This has been a very popular thread on some other forums, just wanted to see what you guys think.

Personally, i have never hunted elk with a bow, but the broadheads i shoot right now are Muzzy 3 blade 100 Gr.

I used to use that broadhead and it worked quite well. I tagged an az bull in 03 using that head. The only issue I had with them is that it was necessary to do some major sight adjustment/tuning when changing from field tips to muzzy. Now I use Wac em's which shoot consistent with my field tips. However, the only things I have tagged with them are javelina in 06 & 07. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with the Muzzy but right now I prefer the Wac em's until something else cool and expensive comes along. Good luck.

Zwickey. That is what the bowhunters that go to Africa use. I shot a wild boar a few years ago while it was feeding toward me. He jumped the string and the Zwickey broadhead whacked him in the skull plate...dropped him in his tracks. I boiled his skull later to see the damge the Zwickey had done. Well it split his skull in (4) directions. That is what you want to use. -CB-

G5 Montec are by far the best broadhead to hit the market in a while. They're strong, stay sharp, great penetration, fly true, are sharp on the back end of the broadhead and you dont have to worry about the blades falling out! I believe hands down best broadhead on the market.

I have killed several elk with my bow. All were killed with Thunderhead 100's or 125's. This year I have switched to the G5 Montec's. They shoot great and I hope to have a great story to tell about them this year!

A good friend of mine swears by Snuffers. He has killed more elk with a bow than any one I know.

Shot placement and a quality BH are the key! Have a great day!

Good luck

Muzzy's or G5 Montecs.
I had no blood trail last year with a great shot using Thunderheads. I am glad some of you guys have had good luck with them, that just wasn't my experience.

Whack em broadheads are the way to go. I also like the fixed blade Innerlocs 100 grain. Nevada deer take dirt naps with both of these heads..

I have some pretty good photos that relate to this topic. they are of a 6 by 7 bull that my friend shot last year.
I can email them to sombody to post up here if they want, and I will fill in the details.

I blew thru both shoulder blades of a bull with a 2412 using a 100 gr. steel force broadhead. watched the bull fall in 30 yards!
