Region J is in the south east part of the state. 160 grain should do the trick. I'll be hunting in region B this Oct. Good luck. car

thanks mike,

no, not kidding....never hunted out west, not sure of a few things...i spend most of my time bow hunting. i bought this rifle 5 years ago with the thought some day i would get the chance to go hunt out west...

thanks,

paul

"i am supposed to be hunting their this season on private land"

The draw isn't until July and the apps are due next Monday. How could you possibly be hunting their this season? That is what we would like to know.

I don't know why these guys are having such a tough time understanding your question. Seems pretty clear to me.
Region J has a 100% chance of drawing, so you will get the tag and you will be hunting it this next season. That load will work just fine on mule deer. Good luck to you.

Thank you so much, I was starting to think maybe I said something wrong? good luck to you as well

Hey Paul

Welcome to Monster Muleys. :) I don't know anything about region J, but I do know that 160gr coming out of a 7mm is more than enough.

BTW you didn't say anything wrong, You just asked an honest question. Good Luck

Tommy

Ridgewalker,

It wasnt that I didnt understand the question, but rather perhaps it was more that I thought the guy was pulling our legs (hence the "you gotta be kidding" remark). Sorry if it confounded you that I didnt believe the guy. I'm thinking if the guy alreay knows that he is going to draw a tag and be hunting private land that he just might have a clue to where the unit is.

Paul,

Yes you will draw your tag as it is 100% odds. Your choice of weapon and ammo is just fine. Remember that Region J is in the heart of CWD area. Welcome to the site and welcome to Wyoming when you get here, you will enjoy it.

Ridge,
Welcome to MM. Good luck on your Wyoming Hunt.
Ditto on what everyone else has said concerning your choice of gun and bullet.

thanks for the welcome guys...ill look elsewhere on your site for cwd info. in michigan you cant shoot the animal if it looks suspicious and they ask you to report it to the dnr....i cant wait to see your beautiful state and get out of this rat race in detroit!! you all have been very helpful!! and thanks for the map mike.

Ultramax:

I've hunted public land in Region J and it is a tuff hunt. Congratulations if you have access on private land. Your odds of success will be much better. Hold out for a big one. Don't go home with something the size of a Michigan whitetail. Also, make sure you can shoot acurately at 300 yards so practice over the summer.

Searchin' for a 4 X 4.
