With only a couple days left in 2010 I've started thinking back on my year...and I can't believe how lucky I've been.

Great family, warm bed, plenty of food to eat, good health...the list goes on and on. I've been blessed for sure.

In May of this year I was also lucky enough to take a trip I never imagined I'd be able to. I traveled across the big pond to South Africa for 10 days of bowhunting. The experience was awesome to say the least, completely new and different from anything I've ever done before. New and different animals, new and different hunting methods, new and different food, new and different people...you get the picture. It was amazing.

I was able to take my wife along, which in all honesty made the trip for me. She doesn't (didn't?) hunt, but she also never complains about all the time and money I spend chasing stupid animals around. It was so cool to take her over to Africa, and to have her spend time hunting with me. She was there when I took a few of the animals, and it's not every day that a non-hunter can be right in the action on a bowhunt especially. She had a blast...and towards the end even picked up a rifle for the first time in her life and tried to knock down an impala!! It didn't happen, but there's hope for her in the future! :)

My Dad, Mom, and younger sister also made the trip, and took a bunch of nice animals with rifles.

Over the course of 2010 I did all my "normal" hunting as well, but the trip to Africa is what I'll remember about the year without a doubt. The hunting was amazing and exciting...I took some cool animals for the wall, ones that I'd always dreamed about. But more than that, the experience with my wife and family is what stands out for me. We're all lucky as hunters to be able to spend time doing what we love, and when we can share it with who we love it can't be beat.

Hope you guys enjoy the pictures...there are a bunch of them!

Happy New Year!

Awesome photos!!! Looks like an amazing trip and a memory never forgotten!! Any more pics of the other animals taken by your family? I love africa pics and hope to make it someday!

I hate you. If I could put all my hatered into one big ball and smash your car with it I would!! lol jkjk

I am jealous of you. That would have to be one of the sweetest hunts of your lifetime!

congrats!

Awesome! I'm headed to Africa in May for a tour and i'm trying to convince my wife to let me hunt, what worked for you.....Assuming that's your wife/girlfriend with you?

Congrats on the trophies. Looks like you guys had a great time. I hope to go back to Africa some day. The hardest thing about Africa is seeing the children, they have nothing! I'm glad your wife stopped by with gifts. They love those type of things. Again congrats on your hunt.

Congrats looks like a hunt of a life time. I justed added it to my Bucket List. Hope to make it over one day. Great looking animals they will make beautiful mounts.
