For me, it depends on the type of gun he uses.

If somebody says they're going to shoot school kids, go ahead and take their guns. Then shoot them in the head with one of them. You'd be amazed how fast that stops.

I'm not going to make excuses for him. That was a really dumb thing to say period. I can only hope that maybe he means that after someone is diagnosed by a medical professional of having some sort of mental disorder, we first take their guns and then fight about it later. I don't think that's what he means because we already have federal and state laws which regulate possession of firearms by mentally ill people.

Any way you look at it... it was dumb. The backlash will have him or Sarah Huckabee Sanders correcting his statement by tomorrow. Maybe Trump will figure out someday that you don't have to be super vocal about every issue. He could have said nothing and been much better off.

Going in and talking to the suspect will only get you lies from him to make you believe he is not dangerous, BECAUSE HE DOES NOT WANT TO GO IN FOR A MENTAL EVALUATION AND DOES NOT WANT THE COPS TAKING HIS GUNS. waiting for a court order may just be to late. Take him also for a mental heath evaluation on a 72 hour hold.

Take his guns and allow him a day in court to prove it was not a valid seizure if he chooses to fight the seizure.

Just about every state already has a law where officers can seize a person for a mental hold evaluation if the officer feels the person has done something or said something that would indicate he/she is a danger to themselves or to others. The only difference would be now you also take any guns they have for safe keeping and restrict them from buying more.
If you are against that, then you do not really care about the safety of the public or school kids and only give it mouth service like many politicians .

I haven't been a member of the NRA for 10 years (since they didn't fight for me in CO), signed up last night and paid for memberships for all my employees that wanted to.

Nemont I may have been a NRA member for the past 35 years, but that does not mean I have to agree with them on every point. I do agree with the NRA on more points then I do with you, but I also have a problem agreeing with two faced idiots like you are. I also just finished renewing my three year membership to the NRA yesterday, but I do not agree with them on this issue. They have done more to preserve our firearm rights then 5 million two face idiots like you that hangs on the coattails of NRA members for a free ride.

As for the mental heath issue, I am far more familiar with that angle then a lazy desk bound insurance broker could ever be. I have taken in enough 5150 W&I mentally ill persons to know that they can be a extreme danger to themselves or others. I even took into custody a 14 year old girl one time for being a suicide risk and committed her to a 72 hour mental hold for evaluation. After the 72 hours was up, they released her thinking, or they said, that she was no longer a danger.

Five hours later I was cutting her body down as the deputy coroner on the scene where she hung herself in the garage of a friend's home.

If there is enough facts for a officer to commit a person for mental health evaluation, There should be a law to allow their guns to be also taken into custody for safe keeping until it can be adjudicated in a court of law to determine if he/she gets their guns back.

Now go kiss off you faker and sell more high inflated health insurance to those baby boomers that you do not like.

We have become way too lax when it comes to firearms laws in this Country.

Along with the right to own firearms comes a tremendous responsibility. Own a gun if you wish, but be prepared to pay the price if you abuse that right. But there is no price to pay anymore. Jail time doesn't deter anyone anymore. 3 hots and a cot is light duty now days.

Do you know how many times a month I read in the paper so and so was arrested. Among the charges is almost always "Felon in possession of a firearm."

Do you know why that is? It's because it's no big deal. There are no real consequences.

We keep pecking around with the stupid new laws, afraid to do the right thing, because it's not politically correct to address the core issues. Now it's proposed to not sell a firearm to anyone under 21. WTF is that going to do? Just another retard law. You can wipe your hands together and pretend like you really did something. What a joke.

Quit being chicken sh!t, and really enforce the laws we have, and demand that people respect the right to own guns.

Dude one of the first school shootings occurred in my county on 5-1-92. Suspect was ticked off about being failed in his senior year and losing his job at age 20.
No prior warnings he entered the high school armed with a pump shotgun and a sawed off 22 rimfire rifle. Shot his civics teacher and shot a total of 17 killing 4 of them.
He barricaded inside a class room with about 40 hostages due to officers arrival on scene in minutes, and after a 8 hour standoff he was persuaded to surrender by our SWAT team negotiator. Was found guilty and given the death sentence. Death sentence was upheld by supreme court and he is on death row today but liberal CA. has not put anyone to death for several decades.

One of the few mass shootings where the suspect failed to make threats prior to shooting, or if he did, the persons he told failed to come forward to law enforcement.

Dude you know as well as I do that banning so called assault rifles is not going to stop the mass school shootings. With semi auto shotguns having 6 round magazines will be the weapon of choice. Can you imagine what damage can be done with that shotgun and a vest of magazines and loaded with double 00 buckshot.

No we have to go beyond the gun and get into the issue of mental illness and prevent them from having guns. Anything less will be nothing but a "feel good" law that will be ineffective.

What I am saying during the last 8 years of Obama no Republican uttered anything that would be considered limiting on guns. Now it is out there and Trump will make a deal with your Senators to get what he believes in.

Dude if I remember right, black Americans commit 33% of the crime and make up a large portion of the prison population even though they are only 13% of the American population.

Sounds like we have a deeper issue as to why so many are in prison. Do not worry, our libs are turning them out of prison by the bucket full so they can prey again on citizens. Who knows, you might be their next victim they choose.
