Manti Late Elk

I drew a Manti Late Elk tag. I do not know this area, but have heard there are some good bulls. As it looks now, I will be getting done with school and working in Montana until mid October. Then I will not have a job, hope I can find something to do!!! My plan is to get there 5-7 days before season and stay until the end (if need be). I am very willing to hike, glass or whatever it takes to find elk.

Where do the elk tend to be during this hunt (Nov. 10-16); high low, mid, timber?

What size of a bull can a guy get in this area?

Does anyone have pictures of past bulls harvested in this area?

Thanks for any info. Not looking for specific areas, jsut general info would be helpful. Thanks and happy hunting!

Late hunts generally depend on the weather. If you have that kind of time you won't have a problem finding some nice Bulls.

I think your problem will be finding one that isn't broke all the hell up. By that time you will run into some nice bulls but they can be short a tine or two from all the fighting.

I pm you but no reply, when you get back in the site get in touch check your pm. With the tag you have it would be a mistake to kill a bull smaller than 360, I have two hunts so far this year on the Manti, all my time will be spent on the mountain in elk country. I'll have pics and video to show you the caliber of bulls on the Manti. thanks ARbowhntr

How many 360+ bulls you see on the unit late?

LAST EDITED ON May-02-07 AT 11:19AM (MST)[p]There are alot of 360 bulls if you know the area and scout it hard you should have a great chance at a 360 bull. Over 360 inch bulls? They are there but its not going to be a pick and choose hunt for that type of bull..And I would definately stay to the north end of the unit.

It's hard to put a number on that caliber of a bull this early, do you mean how many bulls that size on the late hunt?

I have a good friend with an archery tag on the Manti. He is debating whether or not to use a guide, especially as hard as it is to get a tag. I told him to go for it. It sounds like you know a lot about this unit. How long have you been guiding there and how can I get him in touch?
