Big Arizona Bull DOWN! (Video Clip)

just out of curiousity, do you know the yardage that bull was shot at? Looks like a poke but video can be so deceiving.

That was a fantastic clip!
Sure gets the adrenaline pumping!

LAST EDITED ON May-23-07 AT 04:00PM (MST)[p]Ya, and where's the end pic of him close up. I'm left hanging. But none the less... bet that was exciting!!

Oh and what caliber you shooting and what ammo?

It looks like it was probably 225-300 yard shot,

Interesting video! Did he hit on the first two shots or no?

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

For some reason, most of my clips are being shortened by 30 to 40 seconds, so the answers to most of your questions are cut-off in the last part of the clip. Founder and I are working on fixing that.

I hope we find the answer, as the end of my mule deer clips are cut off also, and there is some cool stuff at the end of those. The end of this clip has close ups of the bull, so if we get it fixed, you will see him.

When I first ranged the bull, he was at 400 yards. We spent five minutes prior to this footage, debating whether to take this one or keep looking for the monster we had seen while scouting. A forecast of continued high winds and hot temps made this an easy "last day" decision.

Anyone who shoots long distances at the range knows what little variances are allowed at this range. I was incorrectly using the 450 yard elevation and the first two shots went over his back.

Ryan, the cameraman, told me where I was hitting. When we had to move for the last shot, I realized my elevations were too high for 400 yards. After correcting to the right elevation, it was easy. He died at 415 yards.

If not for the fact that I had ranged the distance prior to shooting, was using handloads that I have shot at these distances hundreds of times, and had a bipod for a dead rest, I would not have taken a shot of this distance. I am still dissappointed that I messed up the first two shots.

I hope you all get a chance to hunt AZ elk some time. It is an really neat experience.

Happy Hunting!

yeah, that clip kind of left you hanging but a cool clip nonetheless....thanks for the info. I was just curious about the range, not looking to criticize.
