A question for the experts. If I'm not successful in the public draw can I buy a landowner allocation that will let me hunt during the mobility impaired elk hunt? I know there are landowner allocations that will be available, but don't know if they can be used for any/all of the seasons or are they for one season/weapon only? Yes, I have my new MI card! Thanks

My understanding is....once you get a landowner tag....then you pick the season dates and weapon choice for that tag. But I am not 100% on the weapon choice.

Im pretty sure there are no los for mobility impaired.the only advatage you would have is that you could shoot out of a vehicle Like in unit 52 they split the tags for muzzleloader.A total of 150.50 going to MI.But as far as finding a MI tag for 16 d or 34 I dont think they exist.Like stated above you could buy a bow Lo tag and use a cross bow and shoot from the vehicle.kind of complicated but i hope this helps out

Thanks for the responses. Crazey - I am not sure I understand. The MI tag has to drawn in the public draw? So when someone buys a landowner tag it is for a specific season and weapon? Sorry for being ignorant about this. I may call NM F & G.

Say you get a (archery) bull landowner tag for 16a, that tag is good for just one of the three seasons. You pick the one you want to hunt. There are no MI land owner tags.

I have 4 vouchers that I will be selling in a few weeks, but they are pretty specific. These specify that they are "archery only" and they are only good during the standard archery season in this unit (53).

Do you still have the 53 tags? And what they goin for?

Thanks in advance.

BigDeer,
I understand exactly what you are asking. If you purchase a rifle landowner tag,in say 16D, your wanting to know if you can validate it for the same time frame as the M.I. season dates or like 16C rifle tag validate at the same as the youth hunt. Is this correct?
Travis

Travis - You are correct. I have bought a landowner authorization that the seller told me was good for either the MI or youth season. I can't wait! Thanks for all the responses.

I'm glad you got one. I actually got lucky and drew the M.I. bull elk muzzleoader tag for unit 52. I am excited about this hunt big time ! there were 130 landowners vouchers as I read it. second there were ONLY 50 M.I. tags offered at all in unit 52, there are 460 archery either sex tags from 9/1-9/22. then the 50 MB muzzloader M.I. tags for the 10/6-10/10 hunt. then for the exact same dates they offered another 100 tags for MB elk any weapon 10/6-10/10.

then another 50 ANTLERLESS tags also for the EXACT same dates 10/6-10/10 for a total of 150 MB and 50 Ant tags for that hunt 10/6-10/10. then on 10/13-10/17 there are 212 MB tags, and the next week there are 213 10/20-10/24 also MB tags and that the end of bull hunts, there are another 460 antlerless tags for the month of november including the youth hunt. so I guess all tags total for unit 52 are 1675 and thats alot of elk I think ?

when I applied for my 50 tag MB M.I. hunt I did not know there were TWO additional hunts going on at the EXACT same time with 100 additional rifle MB tags and 50 additional Ant rifle hunters, same unit, same elk, same everything. total of 200 tags at the same exact time with 3 different sexes, weapons, etc. I'm thinking it will be a little crowded as the unit looks small to me compared to others. I would'nt trade it for anything though- lol. good luck on your hunt !
