I am a Utah resident and I'm just starting to acquire preference points for Colorado. What are the top units for deer and elk. Please email info [email protected] Not concerned with odds, only quality of bucks and bulls.I'd even be willing to swap information on Utah units for any helpful info in Colorado. How does this pref point system work. Any help would be genuinely appreciated.

Thanks

Colorado uses strictly a preference point system, meaning that the people with the most points get drawn. So forget being drawn as a nonresident in any of the premiere "quality" units for at least 10-15 years. There are units that have quality deer for 0-2 points if you know where to look. I don't, but there are guys who do. If you want to get there fast, I suggest you contact Deerking. He has a business called Antlerquest that will locate a quality spot in some of the lessor preference point areas.

That said, I would look into an early rifle wilderness hunt. They issue about 25-30 tags per wilderness and you get to hunt early Sept. Deerking IS THE MAN on finding a good buck above timberline. He helped me find a 29" 8x7 last fall.

So how does Antlerking's business work? Does he give you the gps coordinates to areas that he has scouted bucks in, or just the general area. What is his fee and how do I contact him. Would love to learn more about his business.
