Hey Manny,
I see one type advertised in Cabela's, but don't here much about them anymore. I have 3x9 golden five star on my 300 mag, I've had it for about 8 years and it works awesome. I've been thinking of getting a Nikon for it instead. I noticed on ebay, they have several Redfield 3x9x40mm Golden five stars, some are new in the box. I don't think they make these five stars anymore, so they are probably from the old generation of quality scope they use to put out. There's one on there now going for $81 and still has 4 days left.

They are made by the Philipines now and I think they are owned by Simmons.
I put a Golden five star 4-12x40 on my .30-06 last year. Have not hunted with it, but no complaints from it's performance on the range. Someone on here said the point of impact changes dramatically at higher magnification, I have shot groups at 7x, 8x, 9x, and 12x and not noticed anything. It gathers a good amount of light too. I got mine for less than $200 from Cabela's.

never hurts to get info from some one who has tested optics.....thanks......
