Montana Deer Draw Snafu

There were four (4)friends that applied for the Deer Combo tags ONLY and were sent in with their app's, cashier check. Since I am the only one with a computer, I was checking this past Monday and three (3) of them DID NOT DRAW and when I kept entering the info for the fourth person, I kept getting a notice that "No such info found in their data base for said person".
Now the problem is going to be HOW to get this corrected with MT F&G so HE CAN GET HIS MONEY BACK.
I have all the info concerning the CC number, date it was purchased, by who and the total amount of $1,361.00 for the 4 tags.
Since MT does not have a 800 number, will have to call 406 and try to get this corrected.

Has this happened to anyone else before and were you able to get it corrected????

I wouldn't sweat it... Your buddy probably just hosed up something on his applicatoin, so it was thrown out of the draw. You shouldn't have any problems getting his money back if it doesn't come in the mail in the next couple weeks give them a call and I'm sure they will straighten it out for you.

I bet ya he forgot to sign his app or something. I did that once and about the time you are supposed to get your results in the mail, I MY check returned to me. Said the same thing on the computer when I tried to check draw results.

Just got off the phone talking with a lady up there and I gave her his name.
Well seems that he "forgot" or missed it and left off his "Birthday", which is an automatic rejection.
What I did find out from talking with heris that even though he was rejected, the other 3 were still in the drawing but turns out they still did not get the draw.
Unlike some states as a party application, where if one appl. is wrong then ALL parties are rejected.
Likewise with some states if you make a mistake or leave something off, they will call the applicant if time is remaining and get it cleared up, not so with MT due to shortage of personnel she told me. Good things to know for the future.

Brian do you know if there is anyway to determine from the website if I was drawn for a Deer only tag? I checked points & it says "NON-RESIDENT BIG GAME COMBO 0" but that doesn't tell me much about the deer tag. Is calling the only way to find out?

Did you apply for the Deer only or the Big Game Combo tag??

If you applied for the Deer ONLY, it should have nothing about the Big Game Combo 0.

Now if you applied for the Combo tag and did not draw, that means you can not hunt for either animal.
I take it that you filled in the blank boxes for the results of the drawing, right? All you need to do is enter the first initial of first name, last name, your month,day & year of birthday and last, your zip code.
It will tell you that you were either successful or non-successful and for which drawing you entered. As with a friend, who forgot to put his birthday(mandatory)his appl was rejected and nothing will show up here at all, this is what I was going through trying to find out till I called up there and got the whole skinny on his appl.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-23-04 AT 07:40PM (MST)[p]Well I called MT & they looked me up in their system & low & behold I got a Deer A Tag. Then when I got home tonight, the tag was in the mailbox. Looks like I'll get a chance to use that new .270 WSM I got last month. This will be the 1st trip to MT in 15 years. Brian congratulations on your tags.

Received my license with a Deer A tag and also the Elk tag today too.

4 years ago my buddy put his wrong birthday on our party big game combo app. imagine his surprise when i checked the website and found I drew but he didn't come up.

By the way this year we drew the MT big game combo but the tag was printed on teh wrong form. I called the 406 number, they couldn't have been friendlier and now I'm waiting for them to send another one to me....
