Cory , unit 9 isn't what it once was . The G&F really mismanaged the unit for about 5 or 6 six years, there used to be elk every where up there and for a few years they just allocated WAY TOO MANY cow tags. Then the Floyd Lee ranch bought up any and all land in the area. But, who ever said there isn't big bulls there is nutts. The elk there are big and heavy. The antlers on wet years get big , but when I say they are heavy elk I mean unit 9 has big elk( cows & bulls)they are heavy on the hoove. You may kill a 300 class 850lb bull or a 450-500lb cow.Because the unit has so much checker board /private land you don't hear as much about the big bulls killed , but they still shoot big bulls every year..
I'll be packing my smoke pole there in 9 looking for a nice cow come November...
