elk hunting for the first time this fall, always used crimson talons for whitetails, will they do the job on elk?

They might work, I don't know as I have no experience with them. However, the Magnus snuffers I know work and work very well. I've found every animal I've shot at within 100 yard since switching to the snuffers 8 years ago. My neighbor now shoots the ss snuffer and I think it is a great head as well. I still prefer the larger cut of the old style, but wouldn't hesitate to use the new SS snuffer.

In my opinion, the top 4 heads out there right now:

1. Slick Tricks
2. G5 Montecs
3. SS Snuffer
4. Wac 'ems

shot placement is the key. any quality head should do the trick. make sure your arrows are spined for the poundage you shoot. keep the heads sharp. i have seen deadly performance with magnus stingers. they are super sharp and very well made.

To answer your question........yes.....crimson talons are great for elk.
