best over the counter unit

in what unit/state would you considered the best over the counter unit?

Since I live in the state of Ut. I do most of my considering in that state. So if I were to consider the best deer unit I would most likely consider it in the state of Ut... if it considers you.

For a non-resident OTC tag, I would have to say Wahington. That is about the only state that comes to mind where a non-resident can purchase a tag OTC. A very underated state but there are some great deer out there if you're willing to do your homework and sweat a little.

There are still tons of non-res tags left for all of the general hunts in Idaho, and Nothern Utah. If you hunt hard, and have a little luck, you could could shoot a nice buck in either state.

>Maryland... 36+ deer a season!
>Starts September and runs though
>January!

only 36?? in virginia i think you can kill 44

264....your joking right? 44? I'm from the westside so I don't really know. Even 36!

In TN you can shoot three daar per day but only 2 antlered deer per season = 120 deer per season

In NJ there is no limit on the number of deer you can shoot per season but only 6 per year can be antlered.

craig when you sober up and look at tn rules again you will find out you are allowed three deer a year that are bucks but no where near the 120 you say

look at the first page of http://www.state.tn.us/twra/huntproposal.html

Proclamation 04-10 big game 25 counties un the new unit "L" under gun season 3 deer per day no more then 2 antlered per season. Gun season opens the Saturday before Thanksgiving and closes Jan 3 2005. I would say that is close to 40 days of hunting and around 120 dear. I think I am sober now.

* Move early youth hunt to the last weekend in October as discussed last year.??
* Move 1st segment of muzzleloader season to open the 1st weekend in November as proposed last year.??
* Close gun season on Friday, January 7, 2005 and move late Young Sportsman hunt to January 8-9, 2005.??
* Divide the state into three (3) deer units.
?Unit A - moved 25 counties to Unit L.
?Unit L - "Liberal". Created Unit L from 25 high harvest counties from Unit A. This Unit will employ much more liberal antlerless harvest limits in an effort to control populations.
Unit B - Remain the same.??
* Set Unit L bag limits as follows:
?Archery season - 6 deer, no more than 2 antlered per season.
?Muzzleloader season - 6 deer, no more than 2 antlered per season.
?Gun season - 3 deer per day, no more than 2 antlered per season. Type 94 License is still required for antlerless harvests.??
* Unit B - During 1st segment muzzleloader, either sex is allowed on FIRST 3 days instead of last. The intent is to continue to allow antlerless hunting on the weekend days.??
* Add several new counties to the antlerless hunting program, and expand quotas and hunts in several others as we move further to restrict herd growth where desired.??
* Redesign Special Hunt Table for more readability. Eliminated Unit L counties from table and increased quotas and bag limits for individual counties based on regional recommendations. Added several new counties to the quota antlerless hunt syste

it's been nearly a decade since i've been there, but at the time i'm certain it was 44 or some other ridiculous number like that. didn't personally know anyone that got even close to that, but we all sure tried.

it says 3 deer per day during gun hunting and there gun hunts are no where near 40 days its around two weeks still thats a lot of deer but its only a prop. at this point sorry about the sober comment

No big deal.I don't even know what I would do with three deer in one season. One deer will last me a long time.

It was unlimited for the last few years but the game department thought that people were comparing deer to varmints... which they are!
