I am thinking of putting my wife and/or myself in for a antlerless deer or elk tag on one of the CWMU's in the Morgan area. I have never hunted a CWMU's and do not know how the hunting is on them. I figure getting a doe or a cow tag would be a good way to try the CWMU experience and would be a good chance for my wife to get some more hunting experience under her belt. Anbody hunted the Durst Mountain, Folley ridge, Hell canyon, ect... CWMU's?

LAST EDITED ON Jun-01-04 AT 01:12PM (MST)[p]I have hunted the Folley Ridge unit quite a bit in previous years. The elk always seemed to become more scarce every year, at least during the deer hunt. There was too much pressure put on them by the outfitter and the other tag holders (same thing happened to the deer). There are elk on the unit but some of the places they hang out are on the SW end of the ranch in the 'Bally knoll' area that is as steep as a table leg and very brushy. I would say that you should have success if you went with a doe tag on that unit

My brother and I hunted antlerless elk on Hell Canyon a number of years ago. It was a late hunt in November. We both got our elk in the morning and back to the truck late in the day. I thought that Bucks and Bulls was a good outfitter to work with.
