WELL

I'M NOT BEING IGNORANT BUT I'D TAKE 5.00 AND TRADE THE TAG BACK IN FOR A DIFFERENT UNIT!!! (NORTHERN)

THIS IS THE MOST OVER HUNTED,OVER RATED,LACK OF MATURE BUCK'S REGION I KNOW OF!!!

IT'S THE LAST REGION TO SELL OUT EVERY YEAR!!!

NOT TRYING TO DISCOURAGE YOU,JUST TELLING YOU A LITTLE ABOUT THE AREA!!!

THE ONLY bobcat KNOWING FOR A FACT THE N.E. REGION SUCKS!!!

Stevo, welcome to the M&M site. I have the same tag. Are you a solo hunter?? I have room in my camp if your looking for someone to hunt with. I will be up in the Flaming Gorge/3-Corners [email protected]

bobcat....remind me not to tell anybody what tags I drew. :) Man, you got me feeling sorry for the guy...LOL!!

ONLY SLAYER OF MULEYS THINKING....GLAD I DIDN'T DRAW THAT TAG.

Stevo,

Don't let Bobcat get you to discoraged about the Northeastern unit, I hunted the unit for the first time last year and seen at least two bucks that anyone of us would have been tickled pink to hang on our wall. The key to finding the big ones is getting out now and get to know that area you want to hunt. Look for water wholes, bedding ereas, and feeding grounds. If you can locate anyone of these you'll have a good chance at putting meat in the freezer.

The Northeastern unit is not the last unit to sell out each year it is the Northern unit that still has tag avaliable the day befor the rifle hunt starts.

If my older bro. does not buy a Northeasern muzzleloader tag I'll be looking for a hunting partner this year. If you send me an email we can exchange information and possibly hunt together this year. My email address is [email protected]

Good luck

I agree with 400bull, the key is getting out and now and finding out what the deer are doing last year I hunted deer during the general rifle season up there and all I saw was a bunch of does but I couldn't hike off the road to much cause I hurt my knee the night before, so I couldn't get to where the deer were, but my uncle was hunting up there at the same place just with different people and he said they saw several nice 3 and 4 points, I think its the same everywere especially the northern areas you gotta just get away from the hunter, and if you have horses you will be able to get into some really good hunting areas that there won't be any other hunters around, from what I have experienced.

THANKS FOR THE TIPS GUYS , I THINK IM GOING TO START SCOUTING NOW & BY HUNTING TIME ROLLS AROUND I SHOULD KNOW PRETTY MUCH WHERE THE DEER ARE HANGING AROUND, IVE BEEN FISHING UP AT CURRENT CREEK OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHES & IVE SEEN TONS OF DEER , MOSTLY AT NIGHT , BUT VERY FEW BUCKS , MABEY THEY ARE WAY BACK IN THE BOONIES THOUGH , & IF THATS THE CASE IM WILLING TO GO IN AFTER THEM , ANYONE KNOW IF THE HUNTER/DEER RATIO IS ANY BETTER UP BY THE GORGE , OR WILL IT JUST BE PACKED ANYWHERE?
ALSO IM IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW MUZZLELOADER , ANY GOOD SUGESSTIONS WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK?

STEVO

LIKE 400bull SAYS,DON'T LET ME GET YOU DOWN!!!

SOUNDS LIKE 400bull IS WILLING TO GUIDE YOU IN ON A TROPHY,I WOULDN'T TURN IT DOWN!!!

THE DWR CONTINUES TO HAMMER ON THE CURRANT CREEK HERD IN LATE WINTER MONTHS(KILLING DOES)PREACHING THEY ARE TRYING TO GET THE BUCK TO DOE RATIO IN PROPORTION!!!

DO THE MATH,YOU AIN'T GOT TO BE A BIOLOGIST TO ADD IT UP!!!

GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE TO SEE TROPHY MULE DEER PICTURES LATER THIS FALL!!!

THE ONLY bobcat HUNTING AN AREA WHERE ORANGE SHIRTS OUTNUMBER WHITE A$$ES 50 TO 1 !!!

stevo first off get the hell away from currant creek all the city boys go there go further in around deep creek area mosby above lapoint you will have fun

There are some good deer around Currant Creek, but too many people. Heed the advice given and look around different areas. There are lots of bucks to be found farther east, North of Duchesne. May not be the biggest, but definately the chance.

Bobcat- Have you seen the winter range around the Currant Creek area? Tabby Mountain WMU? Over 70% of the sage is dead. That is why the DWR has been killing the doe population, because overbrowsing of the remain sage could be a disaster. Just my opinion and what I have heard. Good luck with your hunt this year.

The north eastern unit is not all that bad, don't let all the negative posts get you down. You will see a lot of people, but if you get more than 500 yards off the road you won't see many of them, and if you go in 1 mile you will fill like you are all by yourself. I have hunted the NE unit my entire life, and there has never been a year that I havn't been able locate nice bucks on the archery, muzzeloader, or even the rifle hunt. We killed the 197 buck that is posted in this forrum sunday in the NE unit, and I have seen 2 or 3 other bucks this year that are in the same caliber..

Good luck, and get off the roads and you should have a good hunt.
