There are more important things than hunting. Prayers sent for the family members of those lost in the accident.

I would not have posted that if a half million acres burned, let alone a measly 650. Not saying I wouldn't be dissapointed if my unit was burnt, but too tie those two sentences together is a little scary.

Totally sucks for the families involved thats for sure... and it totally sucks that this unit has to burn as well... not scaring at all I think, sorry I'm just to insensitive I guess.

People die all over the world EVERY minute of EVERY day, do you guys say a prayer EVERY minute for EVERY person that undoubtedly dies? Just my .02

"What I could do, I was doing, and that was simply putting my butt on the line for my country, the country that I loved, so that all the protestors and the academics and the liberal intelligentsia back home could enjoy the right to protest against people like me, the hated middleclass." --Gary R. Smith, US Special Forces

I can understand your frustration. What a terrible accident as well. It's just a small blaze right now and I hope no more acres are burned. Prayers for all the families who lost a loved one in the accident that started the blaze and I hope you have good luck on your hunt despite the burn.

To put it in perspective, here in Utah, the Neola North fire burned 43,511 acres and I believe 3 people lost their lives. The Milford Flat fire burned 363,052 acres. I have a lot of respect for these men trying to protect our lives and property. We are lucky here in Utah in that there are no major fires burning right now. A couple of weeks ago I was sure the entire state was on fire!

I simply stated the facts? You guys make MOUNTAINS out of mohills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. Of course I am sorry for the loss of life? And your loss of your Hunting grounds!!!Slider

LAST EDITED ON Aug-05-07 AT 12:20PM (MST)[p]I too am sorry for the loss of life! But all I hear is wine wine wine whoa is me! Three years from now you will love the benifit that these burns gave to the deer& elk hurds. So look farther than your nose!

Three years from now he won't have a tag.

This is prime thick HEAVY timber that wasn't being harvested due to little spotted owl fella. WHAT A WASTE. They can't even get crews to it as its good tough country. Unlike a mere 200,000 acre sage brush fire that we often have, every acre of big smoke from old growth stinks.

It is very much too bad about the folks in the helicopter and their families. They are withholding all information about it now. We don't even know where who or why, just a crash and loss of life. Now we can just hope for some good rains to knock her down as it will probably burn until the snow flies. They can't even get in to recover whats left of the bodies. I'm sure Slider didn't mean anything bad with his post.

Hey Slider, you should stick to the Washington site, you'll be less likely to be politically incorrect.

Slider, it happens a lot here... many sensitive fellas, You said nothing but your facts, and did acknowledge the loss of life but some guys here need everything typed out with grains of salt. don't woryy about it.

I don't see any disrespect, he drew a tag in a unit thats on fire 4 people died in a crash and that is sad but a fact and he feels a little bummed out. Lets all man up just a notch....

I thought I was on MONSTER MULEYS not DR. Phil's website. YES, The crash is a tragedy. I don't think that there is one single person one on this website that wouldn't feel sorry for the families or the unfortunate situation.

Anyways getting back to hunting; Slider, that sucks, but I have heard that they are getting a handle on the fire. Hopefully it hasn't messed with your scouting. Have you seen the pics that MichaelJ posted? I think he is on the right track to kill a big bull and he will be out of the fire area. The fire may have pushed some elk into different areas which may help you out. The fire is towards the N. end of the unit and there is a ton of good country left. Good luck and don't get discouraged (especially by guys on this site).
