Spent this last weekend with my sons scouting this unit for my Muzzleloader Elk hunt which opens October 20th. Is there anyone out there that would be willing to share some experience on elk movements or areas that the elk might move into this late in the year. I'm sure once the deer hunt opens on the 5th things coud change in a hurry. PM or email me if you like.

Thanks,
Bemis

Shawn,

Good luck on your hunt this year, going for a repeat of last year? Best of luck to you on hunt.

Brian

Thanks Brian, I can only wish and hope for that kind of an outcome this year, after 14 years I finally get to hunt elk in my home state. Did you draw any tags this year?

Shawn

Shawn,

Yes, a Lope tag in WYO and a Deer tag in COLO. Will be passing through your town a number of times both in late Sept. and first part of Nov.

Unit 231 is my preferred area, I've been hunting it for a long time. I killed my archery Bull in the unit. October Those bulls still might be bugling. What I suggest is start low and work your way up. Hopefully Mother Nature is kind to you. E-mail me if you like, [email protected].

Good Luck,

Got your PM, thanks. I went on to google earth yesterday, and the clarity is greatly improved for the 231 area. I have found a couple of other areas to check.
Yes, I did have a Bull tag 2 yrs ago. My wife did also. She filled her tag and I did not. I also had a cow rifle tag last year and filled it in January. Sent you a PM

Bemis, so how did it look? I drew a Non-resident archery tag in 231 and plan to go in the first of September. See any good bulls? I know that 430 bull is gone. Well I am just hoping to get a chance at a monster. Thanks, happyhunter4242
