LAST EDITED ON Aug-08-07 AT 00:49AM (MST)[p]We got our first Colorado Resident licenses today!!!

My wife got a cow tag for Units 3,4,5,301, and 441. For 4th season. And I got a cow tag for Unit 2, for 4th season. The wife's going to get a 2nd season Bull tag to carry along while she's chasing deer in Unit 211, and 11. (she's got a doe and buck tag, and I have a buck tag, all for 2nd season.) And I'll get a Bull tag for the 3rd season, and give it hell with no other distractions!! It should be a great fall!! We are stoked!
Any success stories for these areas and seasons, please share! That should help us stay pumped!

Question. If your wife is hunting in unit 3,4,5,301 or 441 during 4th season and you are hunting in unit 2 during 4th season, hows that work out? Just curious.

I work in Units 2 and 3, I travel these roads everyday all day long, my work gives me a Ford F350 and all the diesel it eats to travel any where I want to go, so I do my job early and spend the rest of the day scouting out these areas around me!! I'm really not concerned with me shooting a cow in Unit 2, I see them daily!! I will put my time in with her in 3,301 to get her a cow! And when I do then I'll worry about getting mine! The units are right next to eachother, so it is really not a concern to me!! She will shoot her cow in Unit 3. I'm fairly confident!!
And the truth is when I got my Unit 2 tag we were both going to get a tag in Unit 2, but I must have took the last one, because when the lady ran her info it came back and said "unavailable", so the cow tag she got was going to be our 2nd choice!! But really I'm not concerned with the conflict of time, her getting her first elk will be my main concern!!

I know this may sound shatty, but sloppy seconds was all we could try and get!! We were not residents yet for the draws so I had to wait for the Left Overs! I think we made out just fine, and we are very excited for the upcoming season!! Right around the corner!! YES

Good luck on getting your wife her first elk and its great the you will hunt together during all your hunts. Wish my job let me drive around in elk country. I was almost a CO resident this year too, but it did not work out. Tried to move there in Jan / Feb, but things fell through so I got to stay where I am.

Got a CO either sex first hunt tag and an AZ deer tag to keep me busy during October. Got the 264 and 300 mags sighted in and ready to go. Now all I need is for the next 60 some odd days to go by.

I hope you like elk and deer meat cause it sounds like you're gona have a lot.

Lol.... I got to feed the Utah hunting family members as well!! They can use the meet! General seasons are a tough and ussualy unsucessful for them! They hunt General Deer and General Any Bull in Northern Utah on public land! So they are very happy to help me out with any meat issues I may have!

Good luck to you this fall!! Wheres your 1st season hunt at?
