I need to buy a rangefinder this season. I hunt both archery and rifle, so need one that can measure both close and long distances.

What brand do you recommend? What distance capacity is really necessary?

Thanks.
Paul

Buy a Leica, I have had one now for three seasons and it was the best thing I ever bought. I thought I was good at judging distances until I bought mine. It would definatley be a good investment.

FWIW, I realy like my Nikon 800. I hunt archery as well and don't have a single complaint...................rf

I've had 2 different Bushnell's and have absolutely no complaints. They have taken alot of abuse year after year and still keep going. They are alot more economical too.

You may also want to look into some of the new binocular/rangefinder combo units that they are coming out with. That's really the only grip I have about my rangfinder is that it's just one more thing to carry around. It sure would be nice if they came out with a combined unit that was worth packing around.

Good luck,

I have had real problems with bushnell out past 300 yards. In the times you are most likely to see a good buck (twilight) its difficult to pick up the animals and reliably range them with my bushnell and I used my buddies side by side to test them both out. I would buy the Leica especially if you are ranging out past 200-300 yards........ Thanks, Allen Taylor......
