Best Elk Bugle?

The easiest bugle is one that you can just blow into without having to do anything special. As far as the best sounding, the worst sounding bugle will work like a charm. The absolute worst bugles I've ever heard have come from elk themselves, so I wouldn't worry too much about sounding perfect.

It's Bush's fault!!!

The best bugle is the one they haven't heard. If you find that one out call me, I have some money set aside to start a business. In all honesty, avoid the bugle unless you are locating bulls. Stick with a good cow call and be unique.

It's always an adventure!!!

Best Bugle ? A cow call....-Moosie

People, they thin' I don't know a Buttload of Crap About the Gosple, but I do. (Nacho Libre)

the one I have liked the best is a frankenstien... i take the top half of a primos terminator and put it on the bottom half of a mossback full throttle... i love the blue reeds of the primos and the mossback has two tubes which I think give a deeper sound that the regular primos... but any of the primos calls with the blue reeds are easy to call..

just my .02
i have carltons small bugle, primos pack bugle, and the mac daddy. carltons works ok. i cant really get the primos to work to my liking. and the mac daddy sounds good, but once the reed gets wet it's hard to get anything to sound good. i usually use one of the small tubes and use a mouth reed. i feel u get alot more control using a mouth reed.

Moosie's got it. Learn how to use a few different cow calls and a bull squeel with a diaghram and leave the bugle at home.

Gotta agree with the feel of the other posts. Bugle to locate and then a primos reed call as well as the hootchie momma works for me. I do have a Berry bugle that works just fine.

The best bugle that I have found is the Thunder Bugle made by Glen Berry. It has the ability to grunt both on the inhale and the exhale. Use this bugle to locate them then finish them off with Primos Hyper Lip Single estrus call. It drives them nuts.

I agree with the statement that the best elk bugle is a cow call.
As far as bugles, about any call will work and it all depends on the mood of the elk, the way the hunter blows the call, the time of day, etc. Any of the elk calls on the market will work, or they wouldn't be selling them. I have had elk completely ignore me with one type of bugle, and then switch to a different sounding call and have all hell break loose.
I also agree that it has to be one that you can blow and make sound good. I've heard many hunters that sounded like a freaking wounded elephant screaming in pain...
