I've been pondering this question for the last two weeks now, with all the high fence private ranch operations, in your opinion what state or what providence for that matter (Canada ect:) have more FREE ROAMING MATURE! muley bucks.....

I was watching a hunt in old Mex, (Rancho Grande) and the deer looked tame! the guy took what looked like a 30"er but the deer just sat there and looked at the hunters while standing in the open....?.....

Why are you surprised Manny? That's what Muledeer do. Now if it were a grey ghost it would have jumped the ten foot fence and hauled ars!!! :) he he

I have seen and shot lots of bucks doing the same thing. Sometimes they are just plain stupid. The fence didn't cause that. When they don't get shot and harassed all the time, they get complaisant. The big bucks on my ranch are that way. They have seen me so many times over the years, as I let them get big, they are not affraid anymore. Now I would feel bad when I shoot one. Well for a minute any way.

Manny,

I'm surprised more people have not responded to this good question. I agree - Canada is the best spot. But there are big bucks in lots of other locations. If you wnat pics, I'd say some of the parks like Yeoolwstone, Rocky Mtn, and Grand Canyon would be great spots to see huge bucks. But I'd go to Canada if I had one choice.

WELL YOU CAN'T HUNT JELLYSTONE SO DOESN'T COUNT, YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO HUNT 'EM TO COUNT...

I think Saskatchewan would be my 2nd pick with Alberta following closely behind. Of course, BC is my first pick to kill a MONSTER MULEY. :) Next to Canada, my picks would be Ol'Mexico, Colorado and Arizona.

HEY HEY BCBOY. PAUL MOODY HERE IN KAMLOOPS. YOU ARE SO RIGHT
WHEN SUGGESTING B.C. BEING THE BEST SPOT FOR MULEYS. SINCE I
GOT MY WALL HANGER THAT YOU POSTED ON THE SIGHT (PAGE 9) WHICH
I HUMBLY THANK YOU I HAVE SEEN BUT NOT GOT A SHOT OFF AT LEAST
6 SUBSTANTIALLY LARGER BUCKS. I HAVE EVERY INTENTION OF KNOCKING
ONE DOWN THIS YEAR AS I HAVE BEEN DOING MORE SCOUTING THAN
NORMAL. CANT GIVE YOU ALL MY SECRET SPOTS THOUGH. TO YOU AND
ALL THE OTHER HUNTERS OUT THERE HAVE A SAFE AND GREAT HUNT IN 04

For sheer numbers of deer I would have no idea but if you are looking for best potential for a record book deer I would have to say Sonora. I am biased though.
As for the footage on the Outdoor Channel, I saw that as well. Ranch Grande directly borders me on one of my ranches for many miles. All of the deer are free roaming and it is a great area to kill a big deer. The deer you saw was in the rut and was more worried about the does than the hunters. That has been the demise of many big deer in Sonora. The rack on that deer had a classic "Sonora" look to it.

Hey Paul,
Welcome to MonsterMuleys. Always nice to see more BC guys on this site. It is always fun to have more Canucks poking fun at these Yanks and have them drooling over our Canadian Bucks. :) That buck of yours sure is SWEET. I believe I talked to you at the Safari Show when I was admiring your buck.
I live just up the highway from you, in Clearwater.

No offense to you MM canadians, if Canada had the last muledeer in the world, I wouldn't spend one red cent to a canadian to look at it. I consider Canada only one notch above France these days. Until the politics in canada turns right, I won't be heading north.

D-13er,
Don't blame all of us Canadians for the politics up here. We just had our election and the West overwhelmingly voted to kick the ruling party out but the friggin East voted to keep them in. A minority governement isn't going to last long. Hopefully the East will get it right the next time. Or else us Westerner's will be talking more of Seperation than Quebec.
BTW, Don't beleive the Liberal media about who and what Canada is about. There are many of us up here that do like you guys. Sometimes. :)
