Went out this weekend to try out my new camera and took these pics of an old friend. I have filmed him for 4 out of the last 5 years. I'm surprised he has dropped his trash this year. Looks like I may have to settle for a typical this year. :)

NICE! Do you think that this is the year? He looks like he might have a little better mass this year.

Nice Pictures. I liked that young palmated buck, which in 5 years could be incredible.

How wide is the first buck?? Looks almost mid 30's. Still has time to grow more and it looks like he'll get a couple stickers also.

Nice mass! also looks like he may be getting some kickers on the right side there.

Drum,
You like that mass eh? Those bladey mainbeams really get me excited. I sure hope this is the year. He's a smart bugger though. He lets me film him at 30 yards while he's sleeping in the summer, but come the first week of Sept, he's in the thick timber below treeline. It is really noisy in there and he uses that to his advantage. If I were to get 6 inches of snow in early Sept, I think I'd have a good chance. Otherwise, my only hope is during the rut when he's got his mind preoccupied and gives me that split second chance that I need.

I would like to see that buck in the hardhorn stage! Love the mass! Ever found his wintering grounds? That would be cool to harvest him and then find his old wintering grounds and find the 5 previous sets from that bad boy
Good luck this season!

YB,
I've been searching high and low the last 2 years for his sheds. Thus far, zip, zilch, zero. My gut feeling is that he winters really high, just below timberline. Finding a shed in there is like finding a needle in a haystack.

BCBOY, you Canadians sure make me jealous with all of those pics ya'll put on this site. Hoovesandhorns also puts some great ones on here. Do you have any pics of that big buck from previous years past? Is he regressing or progressing? Keep them awesome pics coming. Fatrooster.

Great pictures! The big one I hope hangs on the wall come hunting season. Just love this time of year.

This velvet picture posting made me get a zoom lens for my 35mm SLR. Got tired of taking video but not being able to share good pictures with everyone because of inadaquet gear.
Stay tuned I will be joining the party with some good bucks I have gotten on film today and will take more during the week. I should be posting by Sunday or sooner.
Best,
Jerry

Nothing better than a nice clean, wide typical. Looks a lot better without the nontypical points :) Great buck BC!

BC....will you please shoot that deer, we're getting tired of looking at him, LOL! Even know he is missing a little trash, he's still a sweet buck. Good luck, I hope you get him this year. Keep us updated on his horn growth eh.

Dangit Steve,

He's just too clean. You better let me come up there and put an end to his misery for ya! :)

Congrats on finding that bad boy again this year.

Congrats on finding him again this year, BC. Great pic of a super buck. You should not shoot him, just save him for the pictures and the ad campaign. With bucks like him, you'll have folks coming to BC to chase them forever. And us guys from the southland can sit here and drool about it forever.

Shweet!

Hey Steve, do you know anything much about the area around Fort St. James? I think thats the town, on Stuart Lake? My dad just got offered a little guiding job up there and I'm trying to figure out what its like?

HS

Awesome buck man.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.
Horn Seeker,
That Heavy BC buck that was in MM's 2003 Thumbs Up contest was taken in the Ft. St.James area. I haven't explored that country too much myself but I know some people that live up there. I know some people who guide up there too. Who's your dad guiding for?

Fatrooster,
I bought a Canon ZR90 Digital Video Camcorder. It takes digital pics as well as video. I'm really liking it. I got over 20 minutes of video of this buck sleeping at 30 yards from me. I have filmed this same buck 4 out of the last 5 years now. Many, many people are sick of seeing my pics of him, but since you asked, those others will have to put up with it one more time. :)
