I drew a big zero, and so did my Dad, but my wife drew a Big Bull permit. I guess I need a new freezer. Whhoooohooooo

I drew zero on deer but I drew a third choice elk. I think I put the wrong hunt number down because I surely don't remember selecting this one. It was for Raymond A, looks like a pretty crappy one. At least I only 1 point that I lost.
By the way, does anybody have any pointers on this area?
Thanks

Bone, congrats for your wife, what unit did she draw, your gonna have alot of meat in the freezer this year.

Goose Prairie. I'm pretty excited for her. Now she will have to shoot a little more. I can't believe that I still didn't draw deer. What are the odds of drawing two moose tags but no deer.

drew a second elk tag, cow only on the GRays River in SW WA, I guess back to back deer tags was a little optimistic, although a guy can dream.

RE: Washington Results - GMU 242

After years of thinking my dad wouldn't hunt big game again due to a major heart attack over 10 years ago, I talked him into giving it a go again last year. My brother and I took him to an area where we figured we'd see some deer but didn't really hold much hope of seeing bucks. We came accross a large two point and you could see the excitement well up in the old man. It wasn't a legal buck so not shot was taken but he's got the bug again. We put him in for disabled permits and this year he drew the Alta C any deer tag. If you have any suggestions for hunting this unit, please send them my way. Thanks and the best of luck to you all.

Drew second choice for deer, Chiwawa A. Great unit, still a little disappointed that I didn't get that Pearrygin tag though. Didn't draw my Nanaum C archery tag again.....and no sheep or moose, what a surprise.

Can't believe I'm saying it but.....come on snow!!

RE: Washington Results - GMU 242

Spot...send me a pm with what time of year you will be hunting for that hunt, and expectations, and I'll try to help you out.

RE: Washington Results - GMU 242

Bone, thats the unit i shot my 7x8 in, lots of elk, scout it during the muzzleloader season when there rutted up and youll hear bugling all over the place. Need any pointers let me know.

RE: Washington Results - GMU 242

I'll try to chat with you about the Nile side. I haven't hunted that much except by clover. I bugle all the time on the bumping side, and have done quite well. I'll have to change my style of hunting a bit for Rose. It will be her first big hunt. I haven't been up there during the rifle season at all, so would like to find out what thats like, and how the animals are reacting that time of year etc. Thanks

RE: Washington Results - GMU 242

Hey Falcon, sorry if I woke you up this morning, I thought you'd like to hear the good news about the permits. Sorry I lost ya.

RE: Washington Results - GMU 242

The nile side is the only side we hunted, never set foot in the bumping. they were still bugling the year we hunted which was good.

muleyslyr....no, i didn't....12 points, can you beleive that? i gotta find someone that did, i've been 'spookin' some tremendous bulls and a coupla of them are gonna die of old age if someone doesn't get'em.

I hear ya, some of them bulls are gettin' pretty old. I can't believe you didn't get drawn. I only know a couple of other guys who apply for there, I'll have to check in with them.

BIG FAT ZERO...Im glad I'm going to Montana! Still like to have the local tags but my points are too low! good luck to all of you...I wish I had a Naneum bull tag so Littlefoot could take a picture of me! haha

Peaches Ridge on my third choice with eight points. Was hoping for the early naches or the late malaga but oh well. I know I'll have a good chance at a good bull with this tag. I know the area well and its fairly close to home. Can't wait to finally be able to hunt for a bull, a bull not a spike!!
Later,
Shep

I thought this would be the year for me because I have a lot of time to scout. But, no luck. Last season we saw two decent bulls and no spikes. I've had a long dry spell with my elk hunting. Guess I'll have to hope to find a set of sheds next spring if I want a rack.
I feel for Littlefoot. Showing us those pics of the bulls in his neck of the woods, but no permit to hunt.

RE: Washington Results - GMU 242

Bone - tried to send you a PM but I'm kind of new to the PM game. Let me know if you didn't get it. Thanks.

first time getting drawn for elk after twelve years of applying. drew Bethel A and don't have the vaguest idea about where to hunt having absolutly zero experience in the area. Any hints would be apperciated

I went 0 fer once again, it's a good thing the other states are good to me. 8 pts next year across the board could be my lucky year. Good luck to every one this fall. Steve

Crapped out clean across the board! No moose, sheep, goat, elk or deer! None of my hunting buddies scored either.

I need help on late deer hunt in the Chiwawa Unit my daughter got drawn for this unit.Any help would be helpful. This is for the muzzleloader hunt.THANKS

congrates for the guys and gals that got drawn. i didnt get anything. i shortened my choices so i would lose my points on a unit i didnt really want maybe that was my mistake.

Littlefoot, bummer on not drawing an elk tag i bet you were chomping at the bit after seeing all those bulls. I was up in that area a few days ago, and saw a really nice bunch of bulls. and one good buck.

Thank god for my montana tag or i would be crying right now.

might be able to help somebody on the entiat area tags.
shoot me a PM.

Garrett

No luck on the Big 5 for me. Got 9 pts banked on all except Elk (7) so look out next year. These draw odds are almost as bad as Arizona (will be) hehe.

Going to Idaho for a controled hunt bull elk tag & now maybe deer general & my first hunt for deer in Montana in over 15 years so I'm not complaining. Now I can serious about making some plans.

Congrats if you got a permit I think that's the hardest part. Well maybe getting the meat back to truck is harder if you don't have any friends. GL all.

Bone:

When I said call me any time on my cell, It was kinda scary when I got the call at 6 am in Hawaii. lol. Thnaks for the effort, we will have to talk. I drew the late East Ok tag for whitetails. I plan on going up there to scout it out. I am with a group of 2 other guys. I haven't ever shot a whitey, so I'm looking forward to a good hunt in Nov. Not looking for a monster, just striving for a good mature whitetail buck. I know there is quite a bit of private land in that unit, so I'm looking for any decent public land that will get the job done. Anyway, you can call me again
on the same number. I'm 3 hours behind in Hawaiia, or we can talk next week. Looking forward to our conversation.

Bryan

PS. My father inlaw drew the Quilamene late tag with his daughter. She is a first time deer hunter, and just wants to shoot a buck. I want to help them out. It anyone has any good general tips for the late hunt, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

HAWAII!!!!!!!!!! I won't tell my wife. She can't figure why I won't spring for a vacation, but will spend 1500 for a moose tag. Then I won't take any vacation time unless its in September through November. She has a point, but so far I have been able to hold her off.

Spot... I sent you a PM. If that was too general, let me know.

Congrats everybody who drew
Falcon, good luck on the whitey.
And everybody else including me, good luck next year, I still have some raffle ticket chances and some tree farm roosevelt elk raffle tickets im hoping on, drawin is today.

Big fat zero for me. I guess it will just be Montana in the end on November chasing mule deer for me. Good luck to everyone that drew.

Duckfvr congradulations on your elk tag when does that hunt start. I drew a peshastin elk permit last season.

Ridgerunner, thats the one I bought, 2 bull raffle for the rainier timber land. Plus some general WA raffle tickets.

I didn't do any elk raffle, kinda of glad now, but I bought a couple deer, and one each of the rest. Arizona finally posted and no luck there. I was hopeing for one of those extra Kiabab permits thanks to the judge.

BEARHUNTER....send me a PM, I drew the Chiwawa late tag for rifle, so I'll be in there for the 2 weeks before your season starts. Let me know whereabouts you plan on hunting over there, and we'll keep in touch.

Kirk:

Sorry about the draw. You were loaded for bear! Good luck on the general season!

Bone:

Tell your wife when she thinks of Hawaii, she can pet your moose on the wall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spot.... These are from where I told you to take your dad. They are dead from old age now I'm sure, but there are more of these around I'm sure.

my buddy and I got drawn for peaches ridge, anyone got any tips for this area, this is our first time what a surprise. we normally hunt the west side so we thought we'd try something different and it payed off. Now I have to start scouting.

Congrats to your wife, I didn't draw a deer tag but got my second Toutle tag. Tagged a 318 bull the first time, will be hoping to top that this year, assuming Weyerhouser gives access if the weather stays the way it has the past couple summers.....................rf

Bone, general raffle drawing is august 10th, and you have till the 8th to buy tickets. Think I might pick up a couple more moose tickets.

I drew second choice Margaret B cow tag. After 9 years I will take it. Meat in the freezer. Time to hit the woods. Hopefully Weyerhaueser will let me in.

we drew any bull artery... season starts sept 8th been putting in for quite a few years for west side area (Marget and such) that's where we have done most of our hunting so we decided to put in for peaches ridge this year and I'm looking for any info on the area to get me started.. I want to go over and strart to scout but haven't got a clue where to begin.

Yeah, this rain has been nice. I haven't even been out in the woods lately, but knwo that it has to be better than the last two years. Cool, the Toutle should have a ton of nice elk there. I've been wanting to go over during the rut for some photoshoots.

Drew the entiat B archery tag, just looking for some pointers for the hunt. Get my nose in the right direction.

My brother in law drew a alakali rifle buck tag with no points and his only choice and his son drew a gardner youth tag.

I drew the Peshastin C, for "any elk" during the peak of the rut on the 3rd week of Sept. I have a new Tikka 300 WSM that just can't wait to break itself in on a big bull. Hopefully it will have it's chance.

Buckblaster, how do you like the gun, Im trying to sell a gun right now and that is what Im going to buy, did you get the T3 lite. How is the recoil and what ammo are you using in it.

Yes mine is the Tikka T3 Lite stainless. I roll my own handloads and would have to say the recoil with the 300 WSM is a bit more than the 30.06 but not bad. It's not as bad as the 300 Win mag. It is the best rifle I have ever had for accuracy. From the bench, it seldom shoots groups bigger than 1 1/4" at 100 yds. The accuracy is what you expect from Sako. This rifle is the best deal going for $500 price tag. I'm thinking of going for the T3 in 270 WSM next.

Just found out two of my cousins drew sheep tag on clemans so ill be sheep hunting with them come sept 15th.

Wow!! Did they both draw? You will diffently have to keep us WA. guys updated. Good luck to them.

Kirk:

Man, besides getting drawn, getting to tag along is the next best thing. Have a good hunt, and bring on the pics!!!!

Get real familiar with it so when I get drawn next year, you can take me.
P.S. Take your water jug, dang its HOT. I went out with the girls for a picnic dinner and hoped to see some game, but they stayed brushed up until much later than usual. That was on Sat, and as you know it was smokin'

Kirk

I thing I read something that said if your family draws two sheep tags in one year the moral thing to do is sign one of the permits over to someone else. I am willing to take one of those sheep tag off of your cousins hands so you can spend quatily time looking for that one special sheep. Looking for two sheep might be to much to think about. So I am really just trying to help you out. JK

have fun and post some good pictures of two sheep. Did they drew the early or late hunt.

Bone, sure ill keep track of all the sheep I find, You can have the smaller one and Ill take the bigger one for when I draw next year to. LOL

Craig, Actually there gonna sign a tag to me and they can go find there own damn sheep. LOL. They drew the early tags, I hope its cooler come sept 15th. This weather is a pain to hike around in. Will have to get up there about 5 or 6 to scout. Ill will take pics.
