I drew this unit for the second time!! My first time I harvested a respectable washington 4 point. I was wondering if any else has drawn this permit and would like to share info. It is a huge area. 500 sq miles. So narrowing the field is useful. I know twoof the TA's very well and would be willing to share that information in return for what you learned.

PM me if interested. Thanks in advance.

My two brother in laws have drawn it and my two buddies have muzzleloader elk tags out there this year but ive never been out there, I will be tagging along on the elk hunt though. I live about 10 minutes from the firing center.

Good luck, theres some nice bucks out there.

I drew an elk tag in there 4 years ago for rifle. Although by the time archery and muzzy season was over the elk were gone (bulls). Muzzy guys did real well. One guy shot a 6x1, had to joke that that one came up from Hanford. lol.

Anyway, did see some awesome deer. I believe I was hunting sometime around the first of Nov. so weather was starting to change. Sure seemed like it got windy there real quick and all the deer we saw were hunkered down, usually in the little draws, if you want to call em' that.

I would say do a lot of glassing, but don't be afraid to get out and push those little draws. There's nowhere else for them to hide. Good Luck

It might be a circus this year, I think I saw that they doubled the amount of permits. I have always wanted to hunt out there, but was scared away by that tidbit of information. While measuring at the sportmens show, I've seen some nice bucks off from there.

My brother and I drew the rifle tag last year. I took a smaller 3x4 on the next to the last day of the permit season. I'll try to send you a PM that has some pretty general information of what we learned/were told.

Thanks for all the pointers. It is a BIG area so I will spend most of the time glassing. They gave out the same number of permits so it should be fine. Most first time hunters get pretty overwhelmed by the size of the unit. I'll post my results after thanksgiving. Hopefully with some nice pics. Kirkl, didn't I see a huge bull that you shot some time ago?
