A friend of mine informed me that he just found out that he drew the East Kaibab! This is a muzzleloader hunt in 12A right in the middle of November. Has anyone ever had this paticular tag?

I hunted the late rifle last year up there and the client shot a 210 typical buck, a real bruiser........This is a once in a lifetime tag.......have him call me if he needs help.........Allen Taylor........

Allen,
I will tell him about you, and we may be in contact. What are the dates for the late rifle that you hunted last year? Will the muzzleloader be just as good as far as opportunities?

Tell your friend he has my tag! I put in for that hunt knowing it could be real good. If the snow has arrived on top then the Mule Deer Gods have smiled upon him. If not then all the luck in the world will not help. That hunt is after the general rifle hunt, and just before the late hunt. Remember every MD hunt is a week later this year then last year, that fact alone will help. He's hunting just at the rut starts to kick in. If the snow has arrived on top the migration will be in full swing. The heards will be moving out to the low country. If no snow then hunt high and have prayer every morning before he heads out. Good Luck!

Bacagrant is right on. The hunt should be right in the middle of the rut. There should be snow/weather that pushes the deer down. Last year the deer were already starting to dump down during the second week of the hunt. We still found deer the first week but the numbers climb once the weather hits. Jeff, tell your buddy to email me at [email protected] or holler 602-454-2146..........This is a booner tag....... Allen Taylor......

Will do. I am sure we will make a couple of trips down there to get acquainted with the area. I don't expect scouting to play a big part in the success, as it is a migration unit. Am I wrong?

You've recieved some GOOD ADVICE from above, assisted a Muz Hunter a few Seasons back,Weather and the Deer won, even used horses to go into the Wilderness looking for a "Booner".Snow is always the KEY to hunting the East side,as Bucks will stay on "TOP"and in the "PARK" till the snow comes, but if it does, even the EARLY hunt can be excellent.Good Luck, and prey for "SNOW"---

azbiggame,

Just curious....
What are you referring to as the "Top"? Is it the top of the Kaibab Plateau?
Also, is the "Top" hard to hunt/get around? How was your Wilderness experience?

Any of you guys heard of USO? I think they guide there, maybe you could call them........
