Has anyone found any nice bucks this year in Idaho? I havent done any scouting yet for deer but I have been seeing some nice antelope.....and about a month ago I was seeing some nice deer but havent seen them since. A guy I went shed hunting with seen a nice buck while we were split up....he said it was around 27" wide...so there are some good ones still around I guess.
I might go out sometime this week after work and check a couple of areas that I archery hunted last year...maybe the bucks I saw last year have put on some good growth over the last year!

I was out this morning for a couple hours and saw a few bucks. One of them was good enough that I would have probably pulled the trigger on him if I saw him opening day but he wasn't a monster. I would guess he was about 27" and if his forks get a little deeper he should gross over 180". There has been above average precipitation (at least in eastern Idaho), the forage looks better than last year and I all of the bucks growing there first set of antlers that I have seen lately look better than average. In my opinion the horn growth should be at least average this year if not better than average.

Went out friday and Sat morning and saw 12 bucks, but the biggest was only a 20 inch 4pt. This was in a new 4pt or bigger area, so I wasnt too excited. I'm going to take my ex step son with me this year, and I dont know if I want him pass up small bucks for his first deer. Russ

Any of you hunting unit27 this year? I drew a controlled hunt for the Challis area. Somewhere around Rainbows Inn. If so, let's talk.

I am going out in the next couple weeks to scout where I hunt. I scouted for antelopes last weekend but this weekend I have a funeral to go to. Got some pics with my digital camera threw my spotting scope of some antelope. Worked just like my cam corder does.
I will post some pics if I see any.

Over in the southeastern portion of the state antler development looks quite good. We have been getting great precip (a saturating rain every 5 days or so) and it looks like June in most places. I have located 2 very nice deer one 28 range and the other pushing the magic 30, although I doubt he will make it. I have tried twice to get photos, but no luck. I also scouted for pronghorn and things look better than they have the last couple of years, the only thing is distribution, they can go anywhere right now and do well with the moisture and water available. Anyhow, good luck.
