Hello all!

I just returned for a day from our 2007 elk hunt. So far it has had it's highs and lows. Yesterday was a high!! After hunting 14 solid days for my Mature bull, It finally happened. I had been sitting 2 different waterholes for most of that time. I had 2 mature bulls come in before yesterday. Lot's of cows, calves, and smaller bulls. I had set a goal to surpass my previous archery bulls and wanted to shoot a "big" one. I had 3 or 4 bulls in "my" area that would surpass my goals by a lot! Yesterday morning my Brother in Law Kevin and I were hunting together. We got into our Treestand at 6:20 am. We had elk under us by 6:30. Kevin made a move to shoot a cow and she busted out of there. After a few minutes we could here a good bull calling down the canyon 200-300 yards away. He did not seem to be moving as his bugles seemed to be in the same area for 15 minutes or so. I told Kevin to plug his ears as I ripped out 3-4 whiny cow calls as loud as I could. I paused about 5 minutes and repeated. After a 3rd time, the bull bugled much closer to us. Long story short, they came in. The bull was glunking and chuckling the whole way! I shot him at about 12 yards. He went about 50 yards and died. As he was trotting off, Kevin shot one of the cows. We ended up with 2 elk down in less than 1 minute! Needless to say, 10 hours of packing and we had them both back at camp! This was an incredible hunt that would not have been successful if not for some great friends and family. Thank you all! I could not have killed this bull without the support of my sweet wife who stayed home with my 3 kids while I hunted. She is awesome! I am heading back up till Friday to help my Bro and Dad and camp with my Wife and Kids. Good luck to you all in your hunts and be safe! Have a great day!

Rick,

Yes, I did get a bull on the Manti I think 3 years ago. Both with my Bow. They were both great experiences and awesome Hunts! As for caping this bull, it was a muddy mess. I had to apologize to the meat cutter and the taxidermist for all the dirt! Have a great hunt!

WOW!! Chad, what a great bull. I am glad to see you slammed one. I love the mud. What time did you shoot him?? We need to hook up and talk. The bulls down south were a little loopy to say the least. Nice bull buddy!!!

Hey Pred,

Good to hear from ya! When I get my rack back you can hold it any time you want! It is currently getting cleaned up a bit!

T,

I shot him the morning of the 9th. They were just starting to get into it. The last few days they seem to have been going nuts! Give me a call tomorrow, or better yet, i will give ya a ring! Have a great night!

Chad

Nice bull Chad, bet that was fun. Never seen one covered in mud like that. Couldn't have happened to a nicer or more deserving kid. Now tell me where you got him!!!!!

ss,

Again, nicely done! You did well 2 for 2! Great bulls and great hunts! You need to rub a little expo luck on me for another crack! ;-) No, seriously, I am satisfied with being done. I would go with another tag in my pocket though? Maybe? Damn, big and stinky does not do it all justice!

It was awesome! Bring your expo ticket by and I will give you a little luck! I am sure my luck is over! 2 for 2 is definatly a dream come true! What an incredible experience!

Congrats again on the MRS.!! That was a cool bull! That split beam really looks awesome!

Lambo,

Thanks, I would tell ya, but then I would have to kill ya! Ha!!

When you pull your tag I will give ya some good info!

Have a great day guy's!

Chad
