Heading out to the Breaks Oct. 4th for the last week and half. Anybody been northshore of the lake? I'm hunting 621 / 622 for elk/mulies and have an 620 antelope tag that I plan on hitting the UL Bend flats with. Any news on dead or alive elk? Any 'lopes noticed in the flats? Any help would be great. (Just got back from Alaska moose hunt- GREAT hunt! check out Moose/Sheep/Goats forum - "AK Success X 2" for pics).

Thanks,
Ed

MT, I was up in the ul bend 3 yrs ago up on brandon butte, saw lots of elk,it is quite a hike up there,pm me and i will give you more info!

that's funny. i was on brandon butte two years ago...i bet only a handful of people have been there and two of them are mm'ers :)

it's great country, just be certain to bring extra gasoline, two spare tires, and a serpentine belt for your rig...not much "traffic" out there if your rig has a problem!

Berto,
Actually, I'll be accessing from the lake side. Have a boat. Gonna get in that way, complete with planks to traverse the mud, since water level is so low. At least that's the plan....
BTW- see any critters on that hunt?

Thanks,
Ed

Guys,
Thanks for the info via pm's & posts. Keep it coming. Hunt is getting close! Having nightly visions of mud and 350"-ers!

Ed

Mud? I think that's just a story that locals tell us "outta-staters" to keep us from findin' their honey-holes! My '72 Dodge Dart and Nike Joggers will do just fine. Gumbo mud. What a hoax!
And, just 'cause I say 350"-er certainly doesn't mean that the first raghorn bull in bow range isn't gonna need to worry about blood-loss. In fact, I might be tempted to "sissy-out" and stick a cow...... Well, maybe not on the first day. The more I think about it, aren't muley does good eatin......?

Ed

If it is muddy, you might need to take a muley doe for food while packing out your 350 incher. I've eaten muley doe. Not too bad in my freezer. mtmuley

well Edpre, how did your hunt go?

You may have posted a report on here and I missed it?

Please either email me or PM me, thanks.
