Went out to have a look around tonight. Haven't been out much this year but the numbers of bucks and average size seem to be down this year. Last year in the zone we usually hunt there were as many tags given out in one year as there were in the last four years combined so I guess that would explain the numbers. I did find a few to take photos of.

These next two bucks I photographed last year as well. The one has grown substantially while the other seems to have gone downhill. The big guy they were with last year was not around so I wonder if he didn't make it through the season last year.

This first buck is decent sized but very narrow. Give him a wider spread and I think he would look pretty good.

Here he is this year (2004) He looks to have put on a few inches from last year.

This next buck has gone down hill a bit from last year. He has a very light colored face and not much for a throat patch.

Here he is from last year(2003). He had a couple of extras between his forks last year but he is definately the same buck.

Those bucks would be considered giants in my neck of the woods. :)

Awsome pix

Thanks, Saskman. Great pics of some nice bucks. The pics are appreciated and the best thing MM has going.

Nice Pictures!
I'm with 6gun, I like the tall, deep forks.
Pretty deer!
Thanks for posting them.

Awesome pics, thanks for sharing. Pale face was a nice buck last year.... in your op. is it age or nutrition that cause the revertion?

Awesome pics there Sask. I really like that tall narrow buck. He looks like some of the timber bucks we've got around here. Like his deep forks and nice mass. Keep up the good work at spreading the Horn Porn!:)

I think it may be a combination of both. We have had good rain this year and the pastures are really green but last year there was about 80-100 acres of durum planted near where this guy lives. They were feeding in that field last year. This year it is chem-fallow. This is predominantly cattle country and there is no more crop land for quite a few miles. It does not seem to have hurt the tall narrow guy much though so that is why I am thinking it may be a combination of not having the higher protein crop nearby and his age. He does have a big body and seems to be in good shape though.
