i just got back from an amazing hunt on the san juan unit. i drew one of the new managment bull tags so my bull had to have no more than five on one side so i knew i would be limited to what bulls i could take but little did i know just how limited during our hunt i had opertunitys on multiple bulls( most were giant six points that i could not shoot). i finally got a shot at this nice 5x5 and i could not be happier with my trophy. i have pictures but i need to resize them

LAST EDITED ON Sep-15-07 AT 03:17PM (MST)[p]here are the picutes. we didnt get back to camp until 1:30 am and i carried the head like that for about 1.2 miles. we went back the next morning for the rest. the my first aniaml with a bow and i shot it at 20 yards. he only went about 60 yards and fell so i am just very glad the the arrow did its job and he expried quickly.I would just like to thank my dad for helping and enjoying all my hunting opertunitys. hope you enjoy the ,i just wish i has pictures of the big ones that i could not shoot.

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

Cool Bull! that picture with the meat hanging from the tree sure reminded me of the movie Predator! Some alien or creature may be hunting you next time you're out in the woods.

Congrats on getting your bull. He looks like a nice second year bull and he should be pretty good eating.

I've never spent any time on the San Juan unit, so I don't know what quality of animals are available, but I was under the impression that these "MANAGEMENT" permits were issued for the purpose of removing some of the giant bulls that were being passed up by the trophy hunters. The big, 10-12 year old five points, or even a Monster 400"er with a broken beam.

Please don't get me wrong. You sound like you covered some country and hunted well and I agree that the bull you took is a fine trophy. But I don't think that bull was really what the DWR had in mind when they issued that tag. I hope all the other Management tag holders take something alot older.

Pretty nice bull , congrats on a great archery elk , ya done good. Thanks for posting all the pics and sharing the hunt , sure helps pass time in a great way.Again congrats on your bull...NM
