All these pictures of these huge bulls is freakin awesome. Congrats to all you hunters. Here's my big stinky that I took this year. What an incredible hunt. It took alot of hiking and alot of glassing. I am extremely excited. It's the first mature bull I have ever taken and I doubt I will ever kill one bigger. What a hunt!!

Thanks guys, There is a story behind this bull. Sorry I posted pics without the story but something came up and I didn't have time to put in the story.

Me and a friend had been scouting out all summer and had a good bull pretty much figured out. Well two days before the season starts my friend finds the bull that we were hoping for dead. One single gash in the neck. The bull had been dead for about 2-3 days we figured. So we go digging around the neck of the bull and end up pulling out a 3 inch piece of antler out of the gash. He was killed by another bull.

This was the bull that I had hoped for and now he is dead. I was completely bummed out because the "Plan B" bulls that we had spotted were nice bulls but not this caliber. So we kept hunting the same area and finally got a glimpse at another big bull. He was an even 6x6 and was everything that I was looking for and more. So we started making plans to get on this bull. He was over a mile away and we weren't able to get back on him for several days. We finally spot him in a clearing with several cows and they are working their way down the ridge line. We get setup ahead of them and start playing the waiting game. We planned it just perfect. The bull came walking by with his cows. I ranged him at 63 yards and let the arrow rip. The arrow entered just behind the front shoulder and clipped the liver. It took a second shot to put him down for good.

I walked up on the bull and could not beleive the mass on this bull. The bases are over 12" around. Later on that night after we finally got the bull out of there, we got to looking at his antlers and his G5 is broken on the tip. So we grab the tip we pulled out of the other bulls neck. What are the chances this is goint to match? Sure enough, perfect match. This is the exact bull that killed the other one that we were after. What a crazy story to go along with a great hunt. We took some rough measurements on the mountain and had him to be 397" plus the broken antler. Which put him just a hair over 400". I measured him again at home and figure him to be 386. This is my first mature bull so I am not too hung up on the score. I am just extremely excited. Thanks for all your polite responses. Good luck hunting!!

NICE!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-20-07 AT 01:58PM (MST)[p] IF YOU HAVE PLANS TO SHOOT A BIGGER BULL THAN THAT I WILL START FALL0WING YOU AROUND, YOU KILLED A STUD...CONGRATS....YD.

that is possibly the coolest story I have ever heard. I am assuming that the bull you harvested (aka..killer) is bigger than the one you scouted and found dead.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-20-07 AT 02:01PM (MST)[p]We are running out of words to describe all these big, brute, beautiful bulls. Congrats on a smoker big bull! Got any more pics of him? how about pics of the rival that this one killed?

That is a beautiful bull Morty; one of my favorites from this season so far. Yes, please post some more photos if you have them and also of the dead bull (if you have them of course). Congratulations on the bull and the awesome hunt.

Awesome story to boot! You are going to have a hard time ever topping the "cool factor" of your 2007 hunting experience.

Quit, walk away while you can. First bull, huh, in this year alone could probably make an entire record book, wow, this just keeps getting better! Great bull Bud!

I wish I had my camera on me the day the other bull was found dead. I don't have any pictures of him but he was a GREAT bull and very comparable to the bull I ended up killing. He didn't have as much mass and as big of a whale tail, but definitely was a shooter. We figured him to be in the low 380 range. Here's another pic (sorry my pics aren't the best). Thanks again guys!!

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

Very nice bull! What a great story too. That is too bad the other bull died though! Take a few more years to replace him! Thanks for sharing your hunt!

Chad

Nice....very nice!! For your first mature bull you definately went big. Congrats on a dandy.

Don't short change him Bud. I taped him at 386 but i missed on the short side if any, plus 6-8 inches broke that I didn't count. He is a solid mid 390's bull! A definate STUD! Congrats again. Buds not joking about the broken tine either, seen it myself.

That is one of coolest bulls and stories I've ever heard! Congrats on the trophy of a lifetime. Can you tell us which unit you got him on?

Cheers,
Pete

MM,

That is a cool story! You are right, it is not ALL about score. You got a great bull no matter what he scores, your bull has it all. Nice icing though with a great story with some great numbers. Maybe this was asked, but have you inquired about salvaging the horns from the DWR on the other bull? How cool would that be?

KTC, I thought about it at the time we found him but when I killed my bull I completely forgot about it.

Smoktem - I know we taped him but I think your right. He's a mid to upper 390's bull. Can't wait to get him on the wall.

Congratulations on a fine bull. This one should make a beautiful mount for your room and give you lots of memories. You did a great job and still wound up with a fine bull! Enjoy!

Hell yeah Bud! Good job! That is a great great bull and an awesome story! Congrats on your hard work. Now, if you would just put that much effort in to your fantasy team!

Heh heh heh!
