We've got unbelievable video of this bull walking from 500 yards out with his cows. Then he meets his maker with a 97 yard shot with a Hoyt Trykon! Double Lunged and he was done within 100 yards! Hopefully someday everybody will be able to see this video, because it shows and tells the whole story

Seems a little hokey to me too.

This guy must be getting bored like me, splitting arrows at 80 yards is cake now days, shoot all year not a month before the hunt! AND YOU MIGHT MAKE A SHOT LIKE THIS!!!

I GUESS

Looks to me that you guys hunting high need to start looking low!!!!! Mossy's bull 443 looks like it on some pretty flat ground. Maybe they didn't want to give there ATV's any Props you know. I bet they used them to haul out there big ol' bull or a TRUCK.

I'd be chuggin' a brewsky too if I had that sucker on the ground and the ATV running over a bit of sage, I mean, who gives a rats a$$. I do have ethics issues with 100 yd shots though.

A perfect shot can have penetration problems no matter what set up you're shooting on elk at that range. If the braodhead only makes it through one lung that dude is going to the next county No Probloma! A big bull can live for days ago miles on one lung-seriously!

Congrats on a big bull, his bottom 3 pts and width are pretty darn impressive Now lets see the video man.

400horns,

You got pictures, thats all that counts. Looks like a monster of a bull. Congrads on a pig. Cool that the little guy in the picture has a big old grin on his face. Is that your son? If so, I'm betting he's getting a bigger one that his dad someyear. Or at least planning on it. :0 hahah, my favorite hunt has still been with my 15 year old sister. Wouldn't trade that doe antelope hunt for anyother I've been on..... Heck of an elk.

Hey ,Congrats on a super bull. You made a long shot count and well done on it. I know a great majority of rifle hunters cannot shoot to even close to the ability of the rifle they carry , I know I can't .Most guys can't even consistantly hit within 6 inches of bulls eye at 300 yards , yet every one of those hunters won't hesitate to fire off some hot lead at a nice buck or bull at 300 yards.Same goes with bow hunting.98-99% of archery hunters cannot shoot beyond 60 yards with great consistancy yet many of those same archers will launch an arrow out to that distance, missing or wounding an animal. But some guys do shoot out to those long crazy distances. Can we all or should we ? No probably not , but for those that can just do that little bit of something special, in this case shoot and hit consistantly at longer distances with a bow , well then more power to them.In this case , guys he shared his hunt , he took a long shot and made it count and now a mammoth bull is on the ground.
Again congrats on a super bull and thanks for sharing it, heck I'll drink a cold one to that....Larry

Sure is great to see so many big bulls hit the ground, Hats off to those who manage our utah elk herds! Great bull, thanks for sharing.

That's why we have some big elk is because they don't manage them.......... Great bull Barnes congrats who gives a shi$$ what anyone else says..

left g5 10 inches? Really looks only as long as the hand thats right next to it.....sorry but its hard to believe the measurements you provided...

Congratulations on a fine bull. He should make a great mount for you. Not trying to rain on your parade but what would have been wrong with saying that you made a great shot at an extended range but still wound up with the bull of a lifetime?
You know how far you shot him why encourage others that don't have the ability to join in beyond their capabilities. Congrats again and enjoy!

great bull! nice shot! cold beer! good company! what else could you ask for? cant wait to get over to the windy city again and check this rack and see the video. piss on uploading the video to the net some of these clowns dont deserve to see it. great bull DB. BB keep the video for those who will enjoy it.

Aim high and let'er fly!!!!!!!

No need to worry about shooting it in its a$$ and not being able to retreive it, theres plenty more where that one came from.

Hunterman67, Are you drunk again? You're one of those angry drunks arn't you.

I am the one who killed the bull here are the right measurments.

Yah we know all about them. 3 years ago we ran into them opening morning in the SW Desert of the rifle and we kept accidentally honking our horn as they were getting set up to make there sneek. Because the year earlier they showed up in the same unit in the archery and shot a shotgun 4 times into the air 20 minutes before light. They better be careful because minersville and milford people are a little crazy. If you know what i mean

Sincerly
4 flat tires

P.S. walking home if they get that lucky

great shot at 97, Ive seen the video in las vegas by you know who, great job and excelent camera work hats off too both of you

shotgun who, stick to shootn pigeons in the chicken coop jim because i can tell you have never killed with a bow, you know why anybody that starts there name out with shotgun, BOOYAH HERES YOUR SIGN

O.K. so now we have hunters shooting elk at 97 yards and being proud of it!! I'v be bowhunting for 40 years and the idea was to get as close as you can before shooting, the last 3 years I could count my kills in feet not yards. there are a lot of archers that can make a shot like that but most know that it's way to easy for an elk to take a step or 2 then you got a gut shot elk. If you do take shots like this please keep it to yourself so others will not think that it's o.k. to try it. this is bad for bowhunting and hopefully the young man in the pic. will learn the right way to bowhunt. J.C.

I must be a loser as well. 97 yard shot? Couldnt sneek any closer with the ATV? Nice bull but that doesnt make you any less of a slob hunter. I cant believe how many of long shot ass clowns have started bowhunting!

In 40 years how many deer have you wounded and they got away. And if you got rid of your recurve you might be able to kill a animal at distance farther than the tip of your nose, and you could say I killed something in yards instead of feet.

We wasn't sneeking we're chasing it down like a antelope after about 10 miles in 80 degree weather he had nothing left. but we also got a flat tire and all 4 of us were taking turns lobbing arrows in. It was tuff because it was into a 40 mph wind so our spotter kept telling us to climb the ladder! But I would have to say this years hunt was a lot harder than last years. Last year we were 18 deep into a 30 pack driving about 70 on a dirt road and we killed another 400 class bull. So that is why we used the atv's this year because the truck was totaled.

97 yards with a bow? That is totally nuts. I can shoot out to 60 yards accurately but I would never shoot at an elk at that range. My father taught me to get as close as you can and then take your well placed shot. If you dont have a good shot then dont take it. This is why people look at bowhunters the way they do. 3 years ago I was hunting here in oregon and witnessed 5 hunters empty their quivers on a herd of elk at 100 yards. They killed one five point and wounded 3 others. I spent the next three days tracking these wounded elk trying to put them out of their misery. Came back the next weekend and found the scavengers flying everywhere. I have no respect for people that shoot at these ranges.

Who dug up this "dead horse" for more flogging? And why?

It's a great bull and if I had a quad and had to rough up some sage to get to it, I would have. So would the rest of you jealous whiners.....you just won't admit it.

WRONG! Many of us have had plenty of chances to "rough up some sage" to get to an animal, and have still packed it out the right way, on your back! I have taken my ATV off road to get animals, but only on private land where it was OK. never on public.....

FOR THOSE OF YOU STILL IN AUH,OVER THE 1,164 FOOT SHOT. I KNOW OF TWO OTHER GENTLEMEN THAT SHOOT FARTHER THEN THAT, SO SUCK IT UP, START SHOOTING A LITTLE FARTHER,AND MAYBE SOMEDAY YOU TWO WILL KILL SOMTHING AT THAT RANGE,AND BY THE THE WAY IVE SENT EACH OF YOU A BOX OF KLEENEX TO WIPE YOUR SNOT NOSE FACES

AMEN TONY !!!! WA WA ( AKA I wish I would have, or could have doen that )

I'd Rather Be Lost In The Woods, Then Found At Home !!!

Flip,

Believe me, no one is in AUH over such a ridiculous shot. I haven't seen a hunting show yet that mentions being that stupid in taking shots. There's one hint that it shouldn't happen. Anyone taking shots like that hasn't spent much time in the hills. THAT'S OBVIOUS.

Stickflicker boooo on you! We don't need losers posting BS like you post it makes the rest of the ethical bowhunters look bad.
I get just as excited about looking at a poached bull as I do as a bull taken without any hunting ethics. Yawn!!!

Great bull!

I can comfortable shooting out to about 50 yards...thats it.

I have a friend that shot competition for years and I've seen him shoot 100yrds and able to hit a 8" paper plate.

Either the yardage is BS or that was a lucky shot!

Great Bow.. Great Bull.

Do you don't see a 400 very often, regardless of internet and magazines.

This will definitely give you a hunting legacy to share with your family til' the day you head to the "happy hunting grounds." I'd say you've got to be more than happy right now. ENJOY the moment.

Take more and more photos even now. Everyshot is different than the others. Burn up those digital photos.

Thanks for sharing... enjoyed your photos.

Some hunting buddies and I are @ the Double H in NM of few yrs ago and one of them is a pro shooter for Mathews and can flat shoot a bow. He's hunting a 420" 7x7 on video for several days and just can't get a shot. finally, after about 4 days and on video he draws on the bull standing broadside, no wind, 87 yds. He holds, holds, holds holds, then lets off and says "I just can't take the chance of wounding an animal like that. Goes back to camp and commences to shoot several arrows into the heart of a 3D deer target @ 87yrds to prove it was not the accuracy he was worried about. Gov's hunter came in and killed it the next week, 410 with one of the G6's busted off. Ture story.

>Good story ALLMASS. That's the
>way it should be.
>Animals should not be considered
>targets.

AMEN!

Just remember one thing....Some forest lands state and or federal actually allow you to retrieve a downed animal with ATV's. They are all different so you would have to check with the one your hunting in.

middlehoof,

What exactly are you saying? Please explain this 887 yard shot. You lost me. Slow down and please use plain English without sarcasm so we know you are serious.

hey buck o i never intended to hurt your feelings but one thing i am not is a LOSER SO THE IRONY of your story is that poached and hunting ethics to me is about the same if you get that excited over the two then im glad so back to ethics in my life time of hunting i have killed 4 of your deerthat ethical hunters have shot in bad areas but dont put down the etical hunters but thrase the ones that deserve a atta boy for a good shot and well done job. hope that someday all will see the video THANKS AGAIN BUCKO

Oh God!!!!!!............another new guy whose already killed everything on the planet, and all in trophy class!!!!!....WD40...didn't you use to be known as "wapati"?

"I have probally killed more big animals than youve lied about. And never wounded anything."

Taking 97 yard shots says it all wd40. No need to explain any further. Wound away.

Maybe you guys should less time on the computer and more time hunting and shooting. I wish someone could explain to me how being on this site alot determines what kind of hunter you are. I know guys that probally dont even own a computer that have forgot more about hunting than most of you guys will ever know.

What happened to the middlehoof posts that were about around the 50's they were great.

to zig_zag the answer to your question is no. im not really a big game killer like you guys out west but if you come to s.e. oklahoma i will show you some of the biggest whitetails that myself and my family have killed in the past years. and if your ever interested in huntn whities or hogs your invited to come on down and hunt 4,000 acres of prime terriory for ether and im sorry if i offended you in any way im sorry. but if you let them teenagers out hunt you like that 14 year old zig you will never here the end of it so come on down and GET YOU SUM YOUR INVITED

Flipp,

If I had the time I would love to come down. Thanks for the invite. I'd return the favor here but I don't have time to hunt myself.

ok zig sorry you cant make it,i will be down there again third week of nov. for rifle. a nephew of mind should be on the web site under the whitetail sec. killed a nice 10 point when i was down for blackpowder. you have to see it. he is only 14 teen

I shot an antelope at 82 yards this year......on my second shot to get another arrow into him. next time just tell people you made a good shot at a long ways and you wont get so much grief.
