I THOUGHT TARDVILLE WAS THE ONLY PLACE THAT OFFERED TROPHY DEPERDATION BULL HUNTS???

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

The bull was taken in a depredation hunt down 30 miles north of Pioche, not very close to Ely. My father has the same tag and let me tell ya there aren't much for cows out there anymore because of all the cow hunts going on, so needless to say the bulls are not talkin much and many of them have left the area in search for cows. Would be the best hunt in my mind if it wasn't for all the cow hunts that take place during the same time.

Since he can still apply for the same tag again next year I did'nt think he would want the gps locations given out on the internet. It's too bad there aren't any cows down there I was hoping to find one in a couple weeks after I shoot my buck in area 10. Hope they haven't killed them all before I get there.

NVGuy, I don't think this hunt is really any big secret. If he wanted a chance at drawing this tag again next year he should have never posted any photo's on the net. Nice bull.

elkguide, the whole purpose of this hunt was to keep the elk out of the fields in lake valley. ndow new that the presure from the hunters would drive the elk away from the fields. they were not trying to make it into a trophy hunt. sounds to me like ndow actually had one of there plans work out for them.

congrats to the hunter thats one hell of a bull.

Ya nice bull. I think just about everyone knows about that group of bulls coming in and out of the fields. I put in for that tag this year, sure wish I would have drawn it.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-27-07 AT 12:01PM (MST)[p]Nevadakid yeah you are right it worked for now but I can guarantee just like any hunt that goes on the animals will figure out when the hunting seasons roll around and move out of the area but once the hunts are over or next spring and summer they will be right back in there again. As far as I am concerned these folks should be awarded landowner tags, but since they are operating cultivated ground they don't get that option, and thats not right, I don't think landowners who cultivate ground and make a living every year off that land should be the ones with the landowner tags, not the ones with natural habitat that don't make a living off the land they own. Oh well as long as they are killing more elk thats all that matters to them right. Have you been doin any hunting down that way Rube? How are the deer looking down in that south country?

publication of the depredation hunt is no secret in the first place. all anyone has to do is open the proclamation and the specifications of the hunt are clearly spelled out. i would be very reluctant to apply for such a tag becasue they are not easy to draw in the first place and then it is admonished that the hunt will be difficult. just bc one guy gets a trophy of a lifetime does not mean that it is a true indication of the hunt as a whole. by in large, it is better to apply for the general tag statistically for chance of draw and chance at a beast as fantastic as this individual harvested.
