Wow, what a year it's been so far for Utah's elk hunters! Congrats to all of the lucky hunters.
I've been able to tag along on a couple of hunts this fall, and I'm all elked out-it's time to start hunting deer!
This first pic is of a bull we took last Thursday. It was shot by my dad's best friend and is the first bull he's shot in his life. It was quite the experience hunting with my 70+ year old father, his 70 year old brother and the 60+ year old hunter. Needless to say I wasn't looking forward to packing a bull out.
We passed on bulls every day, but never could turn up one of the really "Big Stinky" bulls, but after a lot of time in the woods I've come to realize that most elk seem to grow 20-30 inches on the ground
The hunt for this bull was one of the most rewarding I've been on. I'll post some other "Stinky" pics later-it's time to focus on DEER! YE HA!!!
