I want to start applying for Trophy Elk hunt in Utah so someday I can hunt big bulls. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what unit would be a good start for a 380+ bull? I just need a good starting bases. I'm only 20 years old so I'm willing to wait. By the way. What are the top producing units in the state?
Thanks in advance,
COarcher

Just about an LE unit in the state has produced bulls in that category... You still have to find one and kill it, but the bulls can be found pretty much throughout the state...

I take it LE is Limited Entry units? Ok so what units have the best potiental for 400 class bulls?

I'm willing to wait a good 10-15 years for one of these tags unless theres a way I could hunt 350 class bulls everyfew years?

Pretty much the whole state...try one of the units south of I-70 and east of I-15, or the book cliffs, or the wasatch or....

Any of the L.E. hunts. Better odds with muzzleloader and archery, however there is lots of people in the hills at any given time. If you're willing to wait for 20 years. Just put in for Pahvant or San Juan. Someone has to draw the tag might as well be me, then you... Just kidding.

If you plan on archery hunting, that opens up a few more opportunities. Draw odds are a lot better for archery, but you still may have to wait several years.

Like what type of opportunities? And exactly how long would you think it takes for a nonresident to draw?

Archery odds are better. However, you could still be talking double digits..

nebo

Hey Colorado man,
Don't overlook LE units like
Panguitch Lake
Indian Peaks
Paunsigaunt
But like it has already been mentioned. Every unit in this state has the potential of producing genuine boon and crocket stinky bulls. But you need to do more research than justtalking on MM. You may want to talk to state biologists, cattle ranchers etc. Or many of these units have a spike,oe cow archery season that coincides with the LE any bull units. Be prepared to pay the price though, the tags certainly aren't easy to draw and the biggest ones arent easy to kill. Good luck anyway.
Good huntin.
