Burned 11 years worth of points for this hunt. Did a lot of research and info seems to indicate good deer numbers and trophy potential. Has anyone hunted this unit in the last couple of years? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

I used to hunt 21 before it went to draw before CO went that way completely. I have hunted unit 21 & 22 just to the east going back to 1975. If you dont mind, post your email and I will email you back with some hints.

Dan,
Just go up to Wingsetter's post and right next to where it shows (1) there is an icon that looks like "two envelopes" just click on that and send him an e-mail.

My dad used to hunt 21 in the early to mid 70s on Texas Mountain. He passed away in 81, but I have a couple of his buck mounts. I'm saving points to go there myself in a couple of years.

I have a tag i can hunt 21 after your season ends if I get info i will let you know I am talking to a guide thats knows the unit well .Maybe i could talk to you after your hunt?

Hey piceance,
Hey I was just wondering if you were from Meeker or Rangely Or some where close to the piceance creek basin? I am from around there too.

21s a GREAT unit to hunt. Go about 4 miles Northeast of Rangely, along the White river, then head up the hill to Calamity Ridge. Turn right off the main road (onto the ridgeline road) and hunt the west side (the east side of the ridge is 22) of the ridge as soon as you turn right is a hot area, and then approx. 4 miles in there is a short but steep hill where you just begin to get into the timber. Great spot for deer up there also.....Best of luck to you!!!!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-14-04 AT 11:54AM (MST)[p]Thanks Dennis, I will contact you after the hunt.

I'm hunting there during 2nd season so I'll post up after that. The DWM for the area is Terry Wygant and he is very helpful. Just call the Meeker DOW office and they'll give you his number

I thought the East boundary for 21 was Monument Gulch, not Calamity ridge. Am I reading the proclamation wrong.
