First Archery Elk

I just returned from my 2nd archery hunt for elk in Colorado and on the 11th day of hunting managed to arrow a small bull. Shot him at 8am and the shot was farther back than I wanted (Bad shot) so we ended up tracking him for 8 hours and found him at 4:30pm that same day. I was really disappointed in myself for the shot but was glad we kept with it and found him. Alot of times, it was hands and knees looking for a speck here or there so it was a good lesson in tracking for me. I really had a wonderful trip and one I'll remember for some time to come. Here is a pix of bull and a few others from the trip...

Nice looking elk! Job well done on the tracking. Don't know too many that would stick it out and track one that long. Nice pics too.

Way to go.. Good things happen when you commit yourself..
Congrats on finding the bull after that long.
Thanks for the pics.

Way to go!!! Nice tracking job, way to stick with it.

Are you heading back to MT again?

Congrats on your first Elk and way to go on the tracking job!! Unfortunately I know a few guys who would have never put in half that effort which always makes me sick to my stomach. I really like the pics too. The greenery in the first one as a background is cool and the yellow filtered light in the aspens pic is neat too.

Thanks
Mark

Great bull! Great tracking job too! I love to hear stories of guy's sweating it out and finding their trophy! You made a bad shot but overcame that! You will always remeber that bull! Thanks for sharing!
