Hunting in Mexico

Hello all. I've been looking around for places to go do a guided hunt and Mexico has really caught my eye. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with any outfitters or areas. I would like to get some phone numbers or websites if possible. Also just wondering about gun choices that were used or recommended. I was thinking of using a 7 mag. Any other info would help. Thanks.

You can get a hold of the MuleyCrazy office. They spend a lot of time south of the border and know many well qualified guides who they can get you set up with. Their number is (435) 644-2486. Ask for Ryan or David and they can help you. Good Luck!!

Huntsonora is the monster muley "go to" guy in Mexico. He's a moderator here. I'd PM him if I were you. The Mexico issue of Muley Crazy Magazine is testiment to the kind of bucks his outfit slams.

There is also a great article in the latest issue of Trophy Hunter Mag on Pages 44 & 46, get the magazine and read it.

Mexico is the place to go if you want a good chance at a 200" muley or a 110 coues......costs should be around 10000 for muley and 4500 for coues from any reputable outfitter. Make sure you move quickly if you want to hunt this December/Jan 2005 because you need your outfitter to get a gun permit for your gun and the process takes a bit of time. Your 7mm is just fine for the hunting down there........... Allen Taylor......

Sonora has some of the largest mule deer in the world. It is amazing to see the quality of some of the bucks that come out of Sonora each year. The best thing to do would be to call Ryan or David at MuleyCrazy Magazine as mentioned in the first reply and ask if you could subscribe to the magazine and ask if you can get a copy of their "Sonora Mexico issue". It will have a ton of advertisements with websites and phone numbers as well as stories from the hunters that hunted with some of these guys. Be sure to ask a ton of question regarding how they manage their ranches. Proper mgmt is crucial to your success in Sonora. A 7 Mag is a great choice down there. Let me know if I can help you any more...

Thanks for all your responses. I'll be sure to call the Muley Crazy office monday morning and start gathering info. Thanks again.

Hey Drum, I bet you're all booked for this year huh? If not then just curious as to why your not recommending your guiding outfit?

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

We are pretty much booked except for one cancellation. I could use MM for self promotion, and I guess when I post pics I do in a way, but I would rather have him call the folks at MuleyCrazy and order the Mexico issue, there are some good outfitters down there and I hope that anybody that is wanting to go down has the resources available to them to really research the hunt possibilities and find exactly what they are looking for.

There are Monsters in alot of Mexico but the ranch Management is the Key......If the ranch owners allow alot of kills per year on the ranch, the corresponding quality will suffer for years.......the management needs to shoot the appropriate amount of animals for the acreage and not go after the quick dollars.......Drummond Lindseys, Duwane Adams, and many other good ranches the american outfitters have are very dependant on annual harvests. You shoot too many deer of an older age class and after killing the neighbors bucks that come in the next rut, you have shot up the ranch. These two outfitters and some others really watch their ranch harvests to make sure you have the big bucks too go after....... Allen Taylor......

Thanks again guys for helping out. I had my fiance call and get me a subscription to Muley Crazy and also the Mexico issue. I had the issue within 3 days of the call. She talked to David and said he was very nice and helpful. With the issue he also included a personalzed letter with some more info. I just want to thank him for taking the time to get the issue out. Truly a good guy. I havent been able to put the magazine down. Those bucks are some real bruisers. Again thanks to all that replied and now its time to do some homework.
