Can someone out in cyber country tell me about Boulder Mountain Utah? I have heard a few stories, all I know its west of the Henrys and east of the Paunsagaunt. I'am thinking it can't be too bad. I going to take my wife there for a little vacation and sight seeing. She says I'm going just to look at deer. We have been to the Henrys and to the Paunsagaunt. O by the way I do happen to have a tag! Boy is she is one smart lady or what?

Throw in your fishing pole. Pretty country with alot of great little fishing holes. I cant really say about the deer hunting. It was pretty good 15 years ago. Then again most of southern Utah was good back then.

I quit hunting there after last year--no deer. Plenty of elk though. I HEAR the Wayne County side of the Boulder is still ok, but the Escalante side from my experience keeps getting worse every year.

Thanks for your help. Is the wayne county side in the southwestern region? I would like to go up and take a look. This will be my only hunt this year in which I can carry a firearm. I love Utah but have little or no time to scout. My only option is east of Marysville in a place I know holds only little bucks. Any help you can offer is a godsend. Many Many Thanks! Gary

what is the proclamation number for the hunt you have? The Monroe Mountain is East of Marysvale - The Boulder is South east of Loa!

I hunted Boulder for deer last year. Little pressure and few deer. Moved camp three times until we ended up at Boulder Creek. There was feed and water there and some deer. We should have started out the hunt there. Camped on the creek by King's pasture. Boulder Creek had brook trout galore so bring that pole. I drew out on a limited entry bull elk permit and will be heading down in two weeks for two weeks. Can't wait to pass up some of the 6 pointers I saw during last years deer hunt.

Lots of elk but deer numbers are down. I was down there on the archery opener and saw a few deer and about 50 elk (mostley cows and calves with a couple nice bulls). I think the rising elk population has something to do with the low deer.

I think you need a four month vacation on the Boulder if you really want to see the sights, see if the wife will go for that long :D , similar to most units the Elk have taken that unit over. VERY BIG COUNTRY

Many Thanks to all of you. I just don't know what I'm going to do. Those that I have talked to say Boulder Mt. used to be real good back in the good old days. Unless I hear something real positive. I will most likey end up on Monroe Mt. At least I have a good idea where to start. I hunted there 2 years ago and saw plenty of deer. Knothing to hang on the wall but I had a real good hunt anyway. This is just my time to carry a gun, glass and dream of days gone by. Thanks Again. GL
P.S. If anyone has any more info feel free to share.

I have hunted the boulder many years because of family ties down there the deer hunting is not as good as it use to be the fishing is ok and if you have a limited entry elk tag your a lucky man. Beautiful country that is all the good things to say about the Boulders.
