WA Little Naches Bull

Got him on the opener Monday at 11:40, we had a few bulls on the hook right at first light but couldn't get a consistant wind it was very unstable. One came flying in to cow calls ready to commit suicide but sniffed us too and he was gone. Finally in the next drainage and a little later in the morning I was able to get some consistant wind and heard this guy bugleing in his bed from across a big bowl we went up and around the top of him and got within 30 yards. He ran out and my buddie was able to stop him with a cow call and I made a 75 yard off hand shot & double lunged him! he ran about 80 more down the ridge where he stopped and tipped over.
I know you guys are used to seeing bigger but I couldnt pass up this bull with a muzzleloader in a unit with 15 rifle tags. Not to mention it's my first bull that I've killed and I am happy with him. Thanks to my buddies Marcello and Casey for helping me and thanks to my wife for being so understanding the last 10 weekends while I was gone scouting!

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Awesome he looks like a Rosie so I am assuming that you got him in the west part of the state. Great pictures and a great story.

I'd rather be huntin!!!!

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Great job on a good bull, especially for a first bull. I hope my first bull is as big as he is. Thanks for posting up the pictures, about time we got some WAshington animals on here, I think most of the regulars have migrated out of this site to another one....

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Good to hear that some rut activity is still happinin. For those of us that didn't draw any bull muzzleloader tags the season starts on saturday!

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Awesome!! What a great bull. Funny how things work out.....10 weeks of scouting and only 4+ hours of hunting. Definately looks like it payed off for ya. Congrats on a great WA. Bull.

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Thanks for all the nice comments guys ... Ya I'm still really stoked I'm sure this is one I'll never forget. Also it's nice to see the Utah guys chime in here, thanks I appriciate that. sometimes I think the WA guys are hesitent to post (I was) because we have seen some in the past have their glory squashed, called piss cutters or rags just because we arent killing the 380-400 inchers consistantly in this state, We have them just not as many. So now I have a bench mark to beat and next year I'll see if my 10 Oregon points will come through for me and I'll be looking for one more like what Mortgageman shot this year now that was a bull of a lifetime! Good job on that one BTW.

Ya I was thinking the same I took the 1st through the 10th off from work too and planned to stay out the entire season if I had to ... but it worked out better than I could have dreamed. But the cool thing about getting drawn for a permit is that really the hunt starts with the scouting it had allready seemed like a long season before it started! but all that time gets you in great shape gives you more days in the field and makes you more confident, I was sure I could do whatever it was going to take to get r done! Thanks again.MB

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Mray nice Washington bull. My father in law got one in the same area last year at the same time of the day. That is weird.Good job!!!

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Hey man , beauty is in the eye of the shooter. Thats all that counts. Just having a good time out hunting is the reward.

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Great hunt and looks like a trophy to me! I'm glad I swung over here to catch it.

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

That's a great WA bull, I would never think of passing that thing up - nice bull!

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Congrats on a nice WA bull. Sounds like you had a really good time. That's what it is all about.

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Nice bull and thanks for posting. Don't let the pipe dreaming Utards ever scare you from posting. Your bull is one that 99% of hunters would shoot. The other 1% are the ones that are on here complaining and calling 340's pisscutters. I'd rather have hunting opportunity every year than sit and wait 12 years hoping that I draw before I get a fatal sickness.

RE: WA Little Naches Bull

Not to mention the fact that its going to fill the freezer just the same. Great first bull MB, we will work on topping it next season........................rf
