Here in Utah the weather report says we will have snow on Saturday, opening weekend of the rifle hunt. What is everyone's thoughts and experience with this. Are you excited, why? Are you bummed? Will your plans change? How will you hunt with the weather? I am looking for advice and general opinions. Good luck to everyone.

I hope it snows all weekend to keep the weekend warriors at bay. Then I'll have a whole wilderness and plenty of elk to myself! But to be honest, the weather dosen't bother me a bit. I plan to hunt eight days no matter what the weather is. I don't mind the snow at all. In fact, I prefer it as it is easier to tell where the elk have been moving as well as locating them. The weather sot a stirrs em' up a bit, gets them moving around a little more after the storms. Looking forward to the opener regardless of the wether. Good luck to all this weekend. Be safe.

Just please let it snow and not rain like last year, I spent all day in the drizzle and was throughly soaked and miserable by the end. The fog was so thick you couldn't see 20 yards, so glassing the huge bowl we were in was totally useless.....

LAST EDITED ON Oct-05-07 AT 08:32AM (MST)[p]humm Utah's elk hunt lets see here? 12,300 tags for any bull, for about less than 2000 bulls in the whole unit? and 11,000 tags for spike? what a joke, Have a great time while the dwr takes more money out of all our pockets.

I am hoping for snow and lots of it. Maybe someone will spin and block the roads. I am going up tonight so it won't hurt my feelings if the road hunters can't get in (except those of you who gave me advice of course).

Good luck guys.
