Another Fishlake Muzzy Bull

I have been really hesitant on posting these pictures or not.

I hunted hard on Fishlake for a bigger bull, and found some. I just could not hit the DAMN things. I missed 3 times with my muzzy. After the third miss, about 4 minutes after (I was still throwing gloves and hats and having a breakdown) this bull came out of the trees and started screaming. I cow called once and he came running into 40 yards and I shot him purely out of spite and hate!!! Actually, it was a VERY fun hunt. This bull ended up being the same bull I had passed on at 35 yards the night before and I have some great video footage of him screaming at 35 yards for about 5 minutes. I did not know it was the same bull when I had shot him until I walked up to it. I had missed a 350 bull minutes before and I really wanted all my family to be there when I killed it. My brother and brother in law were going to have to leave the next day so, the deed was done. It was awesome to have them there and was worth 50 inches to me! I had a great hunt. I learned a lot and I made some mistakes (like letting a 380 bull wind me first thing opening morning and get to 300 yards before I could stop him, no shot)and shooting while still pumped up from calling!

It was a GREAT hunt with over 20 bulls called in to less than 75 yards. It was not the bull I had hoped for in the start but I feel really good about it and had a really fun hunt.

There's just something about having good friends and family with you that just can't be added up in "inches". Congrats on a great bull and the memories that will last a life time. Hope to see you around.

Travis

Thanks Bart and Travis.

I had much higher hopes than this, but over all it was a very fun hunt. The next day after this I went with a friend and killed a nice bull up on the Pahvant, so, two elk in two days was fun. Being in on the hunt is funner than having the dang tag! There was much more pressure being the shooter than I ever thought! Next time will be different!!!

After finally drawing a Utah Tag, the pressure is on, that is for sure.
You killed a bull that everyone would be proud of. That is a great bull, and it sounds like you had a great hunt.

Congratulations.
Mike

Looks like a real nice 6 pt to me! muzz hunting can be frustrating for sure. Glad to see you nailed that one.

It could have been a long ride home without a bull thats for sure. Good Job on a great bull.

Beautiful Bull!! (IMO) Certainly no reason not to post him! I know plenty of guys with multiple elk kills that haven't killed one larger, or as big. Congrats, thanks for sharing it with us.

That's a great bull! I'd want all my family there for the kill too. Looks like you made a great decision, even if it was in spite and out of hate. LOL

And I've seen the "just missed with a muzzleloader fit" a time or two, wads and papers a'flyin', f-bombs a droppin'...rocks getting kicked....kinda funny...a good make-me-giggle memory for sure. LOL ;-)

Thanks Jen. and yes, there were lots of powder flying and F bombs and all kinds of stuff, that is why it was soo surprising that this bull came walking in with me throwing my fit. It is all on video and when I shot this bull, my brother who was running the camera said" dont cuss, the camera is on" when I shot this one! It was all a big comedy show to say the least. Why a bull would come in while I was throwing stuff, I guess he was just meant to go on my wall!!!

:)

congrats on a successful hunt! I cannot imagine the stress I will feel when I finally draw the big tag. I have gone and helped out on a few of these types of hunts and I havent been on one yet where it was easy like some think it is.

hey....that's a great bull. no need to be 'hesitant'...good job, and like already said...way more fun when friends and family are with you...thanks for sharin' the story and pics...

I think I know why he came in after you were screamin' and yellin'... He wanted you to put him out of his missery, not havin' a back end or any legs! Poor elk, you did him a favor. All kiddin' aside, that is a great bull. Glad you connected on one. Like you said, it is much better to get one with your family and friends around then by yourself. Good work!

dang, if u dont want him ide be glad to take him off your hands. he looks great to me. congrats on a fine bull

Hey Jason,
Congrats again.
I was just hoping you'd wait for me to get up there before you killed. I knew the stress would get to you and you'd thump one before I got back.
I'm glad you had a good time and that your family was there. They seemed as excited as you were. Too bad for them they had to hold your hand!!! LOL...at least they kept you from shooting a real pisscutter!!!!! hahaha
I enjoyed the story and the comments from your dad and brother.
Sounded like a good time was had by all, and that is what it is all about!
Now, when do we get to do pizza and movies?
Rick..

Rick,

I was way too nervous........I am actually glad that my tag is done. I will have and have had funner with other people doing the shooting. I am a lot calmer and more picky. The pressure got to me for sure, I did not think it would but it sure did! My Dad and Brother were great and but as far as helping calm me down and keep me picky......NOT MUCH HELP...hell, my Dad thinks everything bigger than a spike is a shooter...hahaha, we teased him the entire hunt! I told him when he draws a tag I am going to hold his bullets...just not shoot for him, since I can not hit anything....ahhh...stil hurting!!! ANyway, it was pretty fun!

Movies and pizza anytime!!!! :)

How about a movies and butchering elk session?
Everyone around here is full so have to do it ourselves..
Let me know when a good time for you is... I always enjoy a good "family" video!! haha..

Nothing wrong with that bull at all.

Ya stuck with the hunt and got a good l@@king bull out of the hunt.

Thanks for sharing your hunt with us.
