This photo was taken in 1927 in Idaho. The guy in the goofy hat on the left is my great-great grandfather. Probably hard for some guys to believe you don't need camo to kill deer. Think hunting clothes have changed just a bit?

Which goofy hat?
Thanks for sharing. I love seeing pictures from the old days. It amazes me what guys will spend on camo even if it doesn't match the terrain their hunting. I wear Wranglers and a Carhart. Gets em every time

I thought the guy in the funny hat was Ike from "Tombstone". Sweet picture. Thanks for sharing.

Great picture!
I am always amazed at the gear those folks were using and the rifles.
How many of you would even consider going into the woods dressed like that and with those weapons.
It would be a whole different ballgame for sure!
Those guys were tough.

How much would you give to spend about a week up on the mountain in 1927, just to see it. A finger at least, maybe even a ..... okay how about just a finger. Those guys sure scrapped to make a living. Notice the guy with the fawn on his back is just as proud as the guy with the nice 4-point. Antlers sure didn't count for much then.

I think most of their clothing is pretty cool! Wool has been around forever, and I think is still some of the best cold weather clothing. If it's a tight enough knit, then it'll even cut the wind. Back then, if it was snowing, I'd be waiting for the storm to blow over, then come out afterwards.
