I'm from Victoria south of San Antonio.Been hunting ne New Mexco for about 11 years.Started out hunting around Wagon Mound until the seasons were shortened.We moved up to the Raton area,down to the Folsom area.Took three nice bucks over the years.A 187,172,and 170.My wife took a 190 year before last near Barlet Mesa.Took only one elk,a 352 last year.What part of Texas are you from?

I know where Victoria is, been through there many days headed south. Got my last ticket there! I attended an RMEF banquet there a couple of years ago. I live in Brownsville now, but I am relocating to Winne (Hamshire) after the first of the year. We run duck and goose hunts out of Winnie. well my buddy does for now I am in Virginia right now working on a dang submarine for the navy. I lived in Humble for 3 or 4 years. We used to hunt wtail between Freer and George west. off of 59. my ex father in law bought part of the Double S-H ranch. I wound up in Brownsville because of work so I relocated there after my divorce. good dove hunting down there. I applied for the valle vidal up there this year but didnt draw.

Do you guys have a deer lease down there or own a ranch?

I have hunted up in East texas some too. up toward nagadoches (wells). I have agood friend who lives in San Antonio as well as my current sis and bro in law.

You guys hunting on landowner tags d.i.yourself. or guided up there? My bull from (56) didnt score that good but he had a freak horn on his left side. Plus I killed him with my bow so i had him mounted anyway. Flat Iron mesa is where I shot him. Brock,
We have a hunting lease around Goliad.The deer are'nt as big as the Freer area,but we're working on it.The lease is just 400 acres but surrounded by several 1000 acre non-hunted ranches.We are feeding protien year round and are seeing alot of improvement in the last couple of years.Up in New Mexico we have been hunting private land with TOMA HAWK Outfitters the last ii years.They run a excellant operation for deer and elk.We have always had a chance to kill a deer but have passed on several good looking deer, waiting for the BIG ONE.With the new draw system coming into effect next year,the deer hunting should improve all across New Mexico in a few years.
