Alright all you high hunters, lets hear how it was, looks like you guys had some weather on your side for the first week, I want to see some pics and hear some stories.

Here are some success shots posted for Jerry Vekved. I'll let him fill in the blanks when he chimes in. Nice looking country and deer too!

Vek-

Congrats on another nice, I am not surprised though. I leave today for the last part of the hunt, hopefully next week I'll have some success photos as well.

Thanks for the kudos. We hunted by the seat of our pants a bit - I had never been in to this spot before. Very big, steep country. The weather was perfect - snow showers, brief clearings, etc. Everytime the weather broke, the deer were in the high meadows feeding. The pack out was ridiculous - 5500' down to the trailhead, and 10 miles. I have a sturdy hunting partner, and now I owe him a favor!

I spooked the deer I was really after when I shot this one. The other was a ~22" 4x4 with decent mass and deep forks. This guy was dumb enough to present himself after I had bombed way up a steep slope after the other one and got hosed by the changing wind.

Congradulations....that's definately a hard earned trophy to be proud of. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you'll have the chance to help your partner during the general season.

RE: Carbon Cannon...

Nope, just my rusty, trusty FN Mauser in 30-06. I'm a bit old-school when it comes to weaponry...

I'm Truly Jealous! Great Job! Just curious, but what wilderness area were you hunting?

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.
