Dion Laney's DIY AZ 2007 7x7 410 green gross P&Y.
(63 years old, first animal taken with bow.)Dion is a life time rifle hunter converted to archery full time since 2004.

As for Measurments... Look at the bronzed bull out front of Sportsman's Warehouse... This one is actually bigger, with extra inches coming off the incredible 5th. 4th's are 24 inches!

READ THE STORY on the support link below... its a great one.

Here are some of the photos that were on the link.

This bull looks very similar... no proof they are the same but one can only believe they are. These pictures were taken in 2006.

Does anyone in AZ have any photos of this bull in the early season? Love to see more if you have some.

RE: MONSTER 7x7 410" AZ Bull

That was a great great story. And the amazing part is that is is such a huge bull - couldn't have happened to a better guy, and from the sounds of things he would have been happy with a 310 bull too! This is what hunting is all about! I would have loved to have seen his face when he walked up on his bull! I am glad to see that it is not just the big expensive guide outifts end up getting all the big ones. This one does my heart good! Awesome job to you Midnight and your father-in-law. Great job Dion!

This one gets my vote for the best elk story and pics of the year. You better make sure you have this entered in the contest!

I personaly know midnight and he is one of the toughest hunters around. This lucky guy has already had a 200" gross deer on the front cover of eastmans bowhunting journal. The photos were editors choise I believe.

RE: MONSTER 7x7 410" AZ Bull

Just got to know what unit?

I've got 17 BPs for good ol' AZ.

I'd like to kill his grandpa, dad, uncle, cousin, or oldest son. Just need a chance.

Great bull, congrats to Dion.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-14-07 AT 09:15PM (MST)[p]Man Midnight he looks bigger then that, You got one of the best bulls I have ever seen. Congrats.

RE: MONSTER 7x7 410" AZ Bull

Hats off to Dion. He shot the thing. But hell yeah, I'm excited for him.

We green scored him at 410... and he grossed 409 4/8. Good job Kent Miner for coming in close. We did measure him from the widest inside spread but David Nielsen from P&Y said that his outside furthest tips flared out and they could be used and so that is what balanced out our score to make him so close to our green score.

I do believe antlers can shrink, but we were all pleasantly suprised when the final numbers were over the 400 inch mark.

Trust me... I am hunting the Wasatch Front right now. I believe there are more trophy bulls taken by hunters that hike straight up and down into those mountains than in AZ. If this bull was scored on overall hiking effort and strenght to hunt this bull... he'd score low. We were lucky to have such a mild environment to hunt in. We love the flats of AZ... But at 63 your not going to go up and down very long. Dion and I are the first to admit, there are tons, hundreds of die-hard hunters that take bull with a call-in set up no different than ours and they don't get the recognition they deserve.

We are with you.... I admire all you crazy die-hards that hit the trails in the early morning darkness.

I believe taking a bull off general land with general tag is a very unique and trophy of itself. Scoring is great and fun... but after hearing Dion talk about it... It's the experience of the hunt that makes the trip.

Thanks for all the kind words. We repect your sincerity and wish you the best as you finish up this year and make plans for next.

DION has determined to display the bull with a full mount at Gerald Olsen, Archery shop at Utah Archery Center. 4070 S. 60 E. It should make it there by March of 2008.
