WA Late Archery Fanatics?

I'm sitting here with the WA Deer Raffel Tag burning a hole in my pocket, trying not to burn it on just any buck. Am keeping it locked up until the late season and plan on hunting the winter range from Wenatchee to Chelan. I have a trip scheduled for mid-November and mid-December.

I know some of you guys are real late-season mule deer fanatics and will be spending time in there ahead of me (maybe with me in November). If anybody leaves a monster buck on the mountain after their hunt and doesn't mind sharing, I'd sure appreciate any input. What happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico! In other words, I can keep any specifics to myself (not written up in every mule deer magazine in the west).

Thanks again and good luck!

What exactly is your tag? Is it a super special one that can be used anywhere, anytime?

If that tag is burning a Whole in your pocket. Just write a note and sign it over to me and I will take good care of it. Good luck on your hunt and I am sure you will get a good buck. There are some nice deer out there this year. My buddies seen some huge bucks in the wheat fields east of Wenatchee. Probably pretty hard to gain access out there. Stick with Chelan and Okonogan countys and you will do good. Post pictures.

Dark Timber,

Yes, it's a super good tag! For the most part the tag's good from September 1st to December 31st, any unit, any weapon, any buck! At one in 3,831 tickets, it's probably a once in a lifetime tag. I plan on making good use of it! Just wondering if some of you guys might keep your eyes open for me? I ain't looking for a free lunch and plan on putting in my time as well.

Thanks again.

Holy cow. I would hunt the winter range from Wenatchee north to Chelan. I know I can find multiple 30" bucks that time of year.

Dang Sam...got some serious luck going there. NV PIW a couple years back and now this~! Good luck on bagging a nice one~!

Man, If I had to time, I would love to get out, and take some pictures of bucks for you, and maybe find a good buck for you. Good Luck!! I hope you nail a biggun!

hey i can help you out. send me a pm and we can talk about it on that. cant let that tag go to waste

If I don't run out of finances by then, (this moose hunting is running up the tab), I'll be out photographing the little devils, and I'll keep you posted if I see a wallhanger. You better PM me with a phonenumber that you can be reached at though, I try my hardest to stay away from work and this darn computer that time of year. You are in the right neck of the woods. I'm usually farther north though, and I wouldn't rule out the valley with a winter range tag.

Thanks guys! Any of you that've done much hunting know that it doesn't matter how hard you work at it, if you don't run into the big one you can't shoot the big one (even if you're doing everything right)!

Appreciate any leads and hope you all have a fun and successful season.

Just a note on mule deer crazy's behalf. I posted on the elk forum last month for some help for a tag my brother drew. Sam replied and ended up sending us maps and met my brother in the area and spent part of a day driving around to show him the area. My brother ended up getting a nice 5x5 bull and Sam had a lot to do with it. He is the type of guy who will go out of his way to help other hunters out so is well deserving of what help we can give him with this tag of a lifetime. We will be late archery on the east side and will help with what we can. nwhunter

Great to know NWhunter, I would gladly get out and help, just as an excuse to get out there. But, I can't do it this year.

If it's any unit go over by Moses lake and hunt unit 290. I think that's the unit anyway. There are truly some monster bucks in that unit.

I haven't seen it first hand, but have heard people talk about monster bucks in the Desert unit. Seems to draw the most attention from applicants in the special permit drawing. Might be worth a look.

I've hunted the Desert before and spent some time in there scouting/shed hunting over the past five years or so. I even got a partial lead on two bucks over 40 inches, but not enough to find them. I've already hunted in there this year on my raffle tag, but I guess I'm just not smart enough to figure it out?

I figured now wat the time to find the bachelor groups of bucks, but could only find one group of 12 bucks, with nothing even close to a shooter. Did learn more about the country though, just not where the big boys hang out. If anybody else has it figured out, I'd be willing to trade something for it?
