LAST EDITED ON Nov-04-07 AT 00:40AM (MST)[p]I got a lot of heat passing up this bull at 41 yards the 3rd morning of my hunt. What do you guys think??

He would have looked better, on your wall, than anything you shot. Personally, any non=typical is a shooter.

Little and ungly to boot! Wouldn't shoot him and now way would I pay good money to have a mount done with him!

If it were MY decision, it would be based on what else was available in that area where i was hunting.

Neat bull none the less.

Boy that's a tough one for me. Do I waste my once in a life time tag on a once in a life time bull, or do I kill one that scores better on paper. That bull would look good on the wall!

The only way I can answer that is to be put in your shoes if it gave me buck or bull fever or it got my adrenalin pumping than I would have taken it. If I got the feeling I get when I look at a spike or a rag horn than I would have passed also.

I would absolutely have taken the shot! No heat on you though, to each his own!

Personally, i love weird stuff like that and would have had a hard time passing on that bull. I agree too that it depends on what else you are seeing (which was really nice based on your pics) However, who cares what I or your buddies think. You can't shoot what THEY like, you got to shoot what YOU like. It's YOUR tag. If that bull didn't do it for you then you did the right thing in passing on him.

Bow or Gun? Im wierd and like wierd things. I would have shot.WOuld have mounted it too. I only hunt elk with a bow but if i had a rifle i woulda shot too. Its in the eye of the beholder.

It's a "no brainer" then snowman...you did the right thing!!
"You can't kill a 350" bull if ya shoot something less first".

However, he is a unique bull, but based on the other pix you showed....good call.:)

I would have thumped that "CLUB" bull in a heart beat with no regret. Thats a great bull , truely once in a lifetime! Would have looked exceptional on your wall....So what did you end up taking???

I agree it depends on what other bulls are in the area but i would be happy to have a unique bull like that.

I would take that wierd guy every time. If for no other reason than the conversation value.

To MOST people a great bull typical mount is just a typical mount, but the wierd stuff is unique and opens a discussion time after time.

I don't think he would qualify as a spike since thats all I could hunt this year. I would shoot him. He would be a great addition to the 6x4 that I got a couple years ago very different from all the rest.

IT DEPENDS WHAT UNIT THIS BULL IS ON. YOU CAN SHOOT A 6X6 ALL DAY LONG IN MOST AREAS, A BULL THIS UNIQUE WOULD BE HARD TO PASS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE HUNTING WITH A BOW. I'D SHOOT HIM IN A HEARTBEAT.

Personally I couldn't pass up a weird rack like that one. I would have put the hurt on that bull.

YES! I can get into big bulls on another hunt, this is too unique. Lets face it, 400" bulls are common if you listen to everyone on this site.

"you can shoot a 6x6 all day long in most areas" Where exactly is "most areas?" Cause I am obviously hunting in the wrong place if that is the case. And I would have dropped that freak bull faster that you can blink an eye.

You did good passing on him IMO based on your other photos. I like non-typical deer. I love the looks of a monster elk though. That drop doesn't do it for me. That's just me, others on here love that stuff. Great pics either way.

The club bull would be down and at the taxidermist... If I had the money... and I had the tag...a club bull is as good as any bull between 300 and 375 inches to me. None of those symetrical bulls really compare to THE CLUB!!!!

I recognize the background in the pictures. It is in Utah Chester, but not too far from where you mentioned. While this unit probably does not have a 400 bull in it, why not shoot a nice 330 bull? It all depends on personal preference, but I would take one of the nice and big 6x6 bulls before the club. Club antlers are not that uncommon anyway. I suppose if you had a garage full of big 6x6's, then it might be time for something more unique.

I had a tag on the wyoming side of where these pics were taken. I thought a lot of the country looked familiar.

Unique Bulls are hard to come by. I have watched a bull for three years now that is a monster 8 point on one side, (Sheds off bull found by huntin buddy's) Last year he doubled 420. This year if he doubled his 8 side he would be 435-440". But unfortunately his other side is just a big club. I would shoot it given a tag, the bull on the original post, probably not. Awesome picture nonetheless.

One mans trophy is another mans freak. Apparently it was to much of a freak for you so you did the right thing. Another hunter will hopefully tag it and consider it a trophy of a lifetime.

There are a lot of UTARDS that live here.
I have also seen quite a few WYOMORONS, NEVADUHNS, COLORADORKS, ID-IOTS and AIRHEADZONANS in my travels.
