What happened to the bulls that were hit on I-90?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-07 AT 09:58PM (MST)[p]I happened upon a pretty hairy rollover accident last night near Cle Elum, WA. A large bull elk took out a mid-sized pick-up which ended up rolled into the shape of a metallic salami out in the middle of a farmer's field. How the guy survived I have no idea. Anyway, after the emergency responders get the guy into an ambulance I walk over to take a gander at the bull.

Holy smokes...there lay a freakishly large 6X7 for Washington!!!

All manner of thoughts about how to get the sucker in the back of my rig filled my mind, but the reality of the trouble that I might find myself in should I have followed through with them quickly dissuaded me from taking further action. So, I hit the road for home wondering what might happen to the beast.

Anyway I called around over there today and oddly enough, no one seems to know what happened to the thing. How such an enormous racked beast can just up and seemingly vanish with so many people standing around makes a guy wonder. As hard as elk are to find alive, they are apparently even harder to locate post mortem!

As mind boggling large as it was, it turns out ? if the lady taking calls at the towing company is to be believed, that there was an EVEN LARGER 8X8 that also got hammered in the last week or so.

Mysteriously, no trace of that one either!

Any word on the whereabouts or images of these road-kill wapati?

Littlefoot,

Wowser...where'd you get the pic if I may ask? What happens to the horns, meat, etc.? As splendid an example of the species as these are, it would be a shame for them to end up in the local landfill.
