Nevada Rifle Bull

Spent last week on my Nevada rifle elk hunt. It was an emotional roller coaster but ended up being a lot of fun. We spent two and a half days watching a beatiful six point that we ended up going after on opening morning. We knew the bull's daily feeding pattern and exactly where he would be. We got an early start and took our time getting to a good vantage point above the bull. Everything was working to perfection as I set up for a shot when I heard a loud crack from just below us in the canyon and watched the bull drop out of my scope! Turns out, although we thought so, we were not alone in the canyon and minutes from pulling the trigger, someone else shot the bull. That bull ended up netting 373 and as many of you on here are from NV, I'm sure some of you may already have heard about this bull as it was shot by one of the local Ely kids.

Anyway, two days and many miles later with a lot of my crew leaving, I decided to close the deal on this bull. He is pretty busted up but is a mature heavy bull with good main beams. Had he not been busted up, he would score mid 340's. Had a lot of fun and can't wait to do it again someday.

With a oood taxidermist you can have those broken tines fixed and have an awesome mount ,Not that its not an awesome bull anyhow .congrats on youre hunt .

that is an awesome bull, congrats. I went up with a buddy for opening weekend and was watching a herd near grafton. when we tried to move camp to get closer so the hike wouldn't be so far on opening day we discovered no less then 4 other camps all located to take a crack at this bull, the hunting pressure was extreme. we moved off the beaten path and it didn't see another person the rest of the time. he went back up to seal the deal, hope he succeeds. anyway congrats man bulls with character are better imo.

Yea the bull you were refuring to was a beauty, it was killed by one of my buddies a great bull for sure. But congrats on the bull its a fighter for sure.

That's an awesome bull you took, congratulations! Regardless of the size of the bull, sounds like you had an outstanding elk hunt.

Thanks Ryan, I'll be sure to say hi to everyone for you. Aren't you supposed to be on a sheep hunt? Congrats on the baby too, don't think we have seen you since then.
